Somewhere I read where a guy stored gas for 5 years, but I can't find it. While serching I found discussion. The only thing is it is storage for tanks and not 5 gallon cans.

Great read JoJo.
On another note: I have started storing my gas fired items, e.g. chain saws, generators, weed whackers, etc with racing fuel during their hibernation period. In the summer they seem to fire right up unlike storing them with current gas station fuel.
You can buy racing fuel in motor cycle stores, e.g. Cycle Gear, large box home improvement stores where legal, e.g. Home Depot or gas stations in some communities. If there is a selection I go with the 93-96 octane.
In theory, this fuel will last longer with less breakdown than the current 10% ethanol crap. Now with that written, you still need to "stabilize" it as it may last longer and will draw minimal amounts of H20 but it will not last for ever.
