I ran across this the other day (http://fivegallonideas.com/emergency-kit/). Worth taking a peak at.

Thanks for the link JM.

I didn't like the assortment that mountain house puts in buckets so I made up my own, plus added 2 GSI spoons, drink mix packets, instant coffee packets, toilet paper and 2 heavy plastic trash bags.

Cool DM, when you get a chance maybe you could share with the forum your buckets list. Thx

JM,
I made up 6 buckets (square with lid) with mointain house freeze dried's. Entrees are all 2 serving pouches.
3 have: 4 granola with blueberries, 2 beef stew, 2 chicken & noodle, 2 chicken teriyaki with rice, 2 macaroni & cheese, 1 rasberry crumble dessert, 2 GSI long spoons, 8 lime drink mix, 8 tasters choice freeze dried coffee packets, 10 mil spec toilet paper packs, 2 13 gallon trash bags and 2 55 gallon drum liners.
The other 3 have 4 chicken salads, 4 granola with blueberries, 2 macaroni & cheese, 2 sweeet n sour pork, plus the same drink mix, coffee, trash bags and spoons.
The buckets are a good idea for wet conditions, keep mice out and you have a great container for lots of uses. They float too, just incase you tip a canoe over.

How about tearing a hold in the middle of a dollar bill.  Finger thru the bill, clean self with finger and finger with paper part, saving removed part of paper bill for under fingernail.  That better?

HAHAHAHA!!! My sentiment exactly. Personally I would rather throw in a few rolls of crepe bandages instead (even though we [and by we I mean mrsninja] have opted to store ridiculous amounts of baby wipes which work for that purpose). Great buckets though.

They need to replace the boatload of niacin generally found in an mre with just a bit of fiber... then... maybe not so bad.

Hey Burt,
They beat a crinkly old leaf or corn cob.  ;D

I know they aren't the best but was really all there was room for. Wet wipes might cause a mold issue after some time so they are in a different bag.

Buckets are good for focusing on too.  Much better than aiming at a jug and a decent seat fits much better.
