DIY Bamboo Train, Repurposing Abandoned Railroad Tracks
« on: September 02, 2011, 11:07:28 AM »
Incredible "Bamboo train" in Cambodia
How to build a train, when there's no loco at all

This video actually shows you and walks you through how to make them.  Might be very useful once things calm down and there are no trains running on the tracks.  This happens in many 3rd world countries after the tyrants fall.  I've seen them in other documentaries quite a good bit.  Here is how to make one.

The amazing thing is the common-sense way they handle traffic control moving both ways.  Be sure and watch the whole thing.

This is a pretty good idea as long as the tracks hold up.

Yeah I did and that isn't what I saw as being dangerous... did you see the lack of a mechanical connection between the "train car" and the axles?

That is a really cool example of human ingenuity. Makes you wonder what Americans could come up with if we were in a similar scenario.

You kidding me, Ive got tracks in my town that haven't been used in 20 years and their still good to go.

That's a great idea. Although, you best know your AO and its dangers, Rail road tracks are one fucking easy place to ambush or just IED up.

Yeah, the first thing I thought of (besides the whole contraption falling apart) was someone stringing a few wires across at about neck height to catch the riders, and then throwing something on the track at the last minute to finish the job by derailing the "train."

He I once saw a small yellow train bike thing. I don't know if it was used by rail companies or not. But I have seen wheels for trucjs so you can ride on the rails.
Fan out your shots. We want everyone to get some.

Yeah, you could only use this after WROL had calmed down and there wasn't as much violence, or you knew a certain part of the tract was reasonably safe for travel, like between your camp and the new camp if ya'll were having commerce between the two.  You had eggs, he has milk, whatever.  And you have guys watching the tracks most of the time.

Way way way to easy to ambush or IED a train track.. insanely easy.
