DIY auto repair questions!
« on: April 30, 2012, 10:47:30 PM »
Alright guys part of prepping is doing things yourself, and I know the cars today can be intimidating. But have no fear you have a master tech you can ask questions to. This thread is for any automotive question you have from check engine lights to rebuilds, from squeaks and rattles to "my car wont start". Post up your questions I will do my best to check this thread everyday, if I don't get back to you with in a day PM me.

When we're rebuilding society after shtf, I'm making a performance shop, for all people's tuning needs! I have a 2008 WRX that I'm eventually putting a 20g on and should be pushing close to 400hp with stock internals!

I seem to recall Shambutter both brightens the headlight beams of your auto and can be used as starting fluid...

you guys really need to start utilizing this thread. GAP knows wtf he's doing and has helped me a million times over the phone.

here's an idea for you guys that are a little less broke than me. any parts on your vehicles that may be on their last leg but haven't quite taken the big shit just yet, just replace them! you're killing two birds with one stone, you're replacing a worn out part, AND you're learning skills at the same time. just a thought.

GAP's the most talented and knowledgable mechanic, I've ever met, and I've known some good ones.

Seriously, he can help you out, and he has helped me out 10 Gazillion times before, and he doesn't even charge, he's a good man.

The real question is can you stick a gasifier in the bed and run them on dried out roadkill?

used motor oil, trans fluid, cooking oil, rendered animal fats, kerosene (SP) jet fuel diesel has a bit of an advantage however most of that will only burn if its warm first, and you have plenty of fuel filters on hand.

fuel filters are 18 bucks and i'm throwing a second fuel tank on there so if i want to fill one with oil, i can start the truck with diesel then switch tanks over to the oil/whatever

Just think of the number of average Americans that don't know that, because all they've ever done is filled up at the pump, and never looked further into it.
