1984: MSR introduces the WhisperLite? stove, which subsequently set the standard for lightweight backpacking stoves.

1986: The WhisperLite? wins a Product Design Award from Backpacker Magazine.

1994: WhisperLite Internationale? 600 wins Editors' Choice Award from Backpacker magazine.

2005: Reader's Choice, Backpacker Magazine. (interesting side note, nowhere did I see mention of the pocket rocket when I was looking at 'whisperlite awards' but if you search for 'pocketrocket awards' you will see that "The PocketRocket stove tied with the MSR WhisperLite stove as Backpacker Magazine Readers? choice for the best camping stove in 2005.")

2012: Editor's Choice, Backpacker Magazine

28 years dude... The WhisperLite was the standard back when we were both still shitting yellow. It wasn't my choice, the decision was made long before I had a say.

I failed epicly in making one. I rushed though it so hopefully my next one will be better.
Mine won't light for some reason.

what are you using for fuel?

also don't forget that you have to flood the burner top with fuel and that has to burn for a while to heat up the fuel on the inside. it takes several minutes before the flames separate into those six clean little flames, for a while the whole thing is on fire until the excess stuff on top is burned off and the stuff inside starts to boil and push the vapor out of the jet holes.

hope this helps.

another bit of advice, I would definitely take the advice given on the site about heating up one piece and freezing the other. I skipped that and just forced my burner into the base and it made a tiny hairline split in the wall of the base. it still works but I'll have to make another one as well if I want one that doesn't leak, lol.
