California's latest gun law
« on: January 01, 2016, 04:04:58 PM »
Well Pepijn was nice enough to text me this morning to remind me of the latest gun related law that takes effect today.

It's a "gun restraining order". A cop or family member etc can petition to have all your guns taken away under the claim of you being at risk of committing a violent act. It appears that the temporary restraining order that a cop can attain, requires very little effort. A call can be made and they take all your guns for 21 days. During that time they can petition for an extended or even permanent restraining order.

Come on over to get them.  I sold all mine.  Wife and I both had some medical issues.  Got one pistol and old beat up partially broke Maverick 88 shotgun.  Rough shape and it has issues on the pumpage part.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

In CA if you've sold them they'll know because you went through an FFL for the transfer. If Obama has his way you'll be doing the same on any future private sales wherever you are too.

No, I guess I am one of obummers bad guys.  I did them all online or at a gun show.  No checks other than a peek at a GWCL for most of them.  Not that there ever was that many.

Here in Ga, having one of those Ga Weapon Carry License requires no check, even when through a dealer and about any guy you run into at a show has one.

Rhode Island is similar. If you have a ccw no wait period or state check but still need to do a NICS check.

Here, no NICS, no call, just 4473 and that, if paper, goes in file cabinet in shed at home.  Seems most dealers here have a shed out back where they keep all that stuff.  I have heard though (don't know if true or not) but some have trash burn pile nearby.

Some guys thought if registration/turn in of those suddenly necessary, the wind might blow the wrong way.  Dunno but you know how you hear things, people talk, word gets around stuff happens.  I do not believe it.  They all are good legal proper dealers around here.

An old friend in the police state of NJ had a gun store back when the feds would send in a person with a NJ firearms ID card to buy a gun, walk out side and sell it to a person who didn't have an ID card. They would then go in and arrest the owner for allowing a straw  purchase on the gunshop property. He was alerted that they were to target him but a strange thing happened. His file cabnet caught fire. Strange.

Don't laugh folks it will be going coast to coast folks.

I won't happen in S Ga.  Do some research on GA HB60.  It went through the legislature about 18 months ago.  There was dozens of Moms Demanding Action, preachers praying, and all them folks screaming blood in the streets, wild wild west, shootouts by the drove and hollering what about the children.

I am still waiting on those things to start happening here.  I got my binocs out figuring it would be fun to watch.  Ga is reportedly to be right up at the top of the danger list by the antis.

Just reviewed HB60. Unfortunately that bill provides GA residents no protections against federal background checks or maintaining of databases. That bill is directed toward the State of GA. Not surprisingly of course because the proposed nationwide federal background checks on all sales or transfers is still just an idea at this point, so HB60 couldn't even have been aware of such a potential problem.
