Title: What a friend!
Post by: 1000meterstare on January 11, 2012, 01:49:50 AM
My best buddy I've known since high school (25 years) bought us a pair of revolvers commemorating our friendship.  Smith and Wesson model 637's with tuned triggers and match barrels from the smith and wesson performance center.  They have sequential serial numbers and are +p rated.  Well, I guess I gotta buy a new holster now...

P.S.  Freakin' SWEEEEEET gun!

No... the question is what did you do to get them? Sounds more to me like an engagement of some sorts  :P

Nothing like that.  He is more like a brother I guess.  I even agreed to adopt his kids if something untimely should happen to him.  I offered to keep it in a display case and he told me "guns are made to be shot."

BobR, I hear ya' man...I feel left out too.

The last time someone bought me a gun was in '88 when my wife bought me a Browning Hi Pwr when we lived in S.Cal. Oh yeah I almost forgot she bought me that S&W 622 for Christmas in '96 when we lived in FL...BUT it's been 15 years since someone bought me another gun.  :'(

I bought the wife (should have got two because she won't let me touch it!) a 637, you are going to fall in love brother. IMO that is the finest CCW pistol ever made.

you gotta love 38 specials, its just one of those guns thats like a classic. when i borrow my dads ruger 357 i usually shoot 38s cause its way cheaper.

btw im not familiar with buffalo bore but isnt it a more pressured round. one of my rich buddies was telling me he shot a sheep at 300 yards with buffalo bore ammo in a 308 and it dropped like a sack of bricks.

Yep, you are right, backwoods.  Buffalo bore is loaded like rounds used to be loaded.  Now everything is lawyer-proofed and wussed down. :o

lol, if you use it for self defense youll be on the news for being a "mentally ill" and shooting a murderer with a "extremely powerful round" as the news people would say.

Hey 1KMStare, If you want I could load some rounds for you and save you the pile of money that dude wants for his buffalo bullets.

i've used some rounds i loaded to buffalo bore spec cartridges on elk
puts em down with a fury

180gn hard cast bullet out of a 6" revolver makes 1154 ft/lb's of energy

not bad for a 357magnum......
