Title: Weather
Post by: pkveazey on November 30, 2024, 02:18:17 AM
I've been seeing a lot of weather forecasts about this being a nasty winter. Today, I caught a glimpse at something that showed Florida is going to get a nasty Freeze. I'll have to wait and see how this plays out in my area also. One report said that near my area, they would be measuring snow in feet instead of inches. I'm prepared but it's not going to be business as usual.

I passed by a store yesterday that had snow sleds in all different colors lined up just like you would see surf boards lined up at Ron Jon's. We had a some flurries yesterday, certainly cold here, thankful we are prepared too.

No snow yet here at my AO in middle Tennessee.  However, it?s bitterly cold, way below normal temperatures. I?m thankful we?re not getting the loads of snow that some places are getting.

We had 4" of wet snow on Thanksgiving. We have about 1" left on the ground.

We are receiving off & on, lake affect snow from Lake Erie, Ontario and the finger lakes today.

At 0600 hrs. the temp outside was 23. Loaded up the wood stove and went back to bed. Time to put on the bed flannel sheets I think.  ;D

It is 25 now at 1000 hrs.

Today, is the opening day of centerfire deer season. I have heard NO SHOTS. This year, I am hunting from my    La-Z-Boy this year. I have a loaded rifle next to the door and if a bambi is stupid enough to walk into my meadow south of the cabin then we will have meat. Jackalope has been here and knows what I am talking about.  ;D

No snow in Cen Va.  Noting predicted in next few weeks.   Had a 37 or so day official drought (no measurable rain at official NOAA spot) through early November.

Got rather cold last night. Mid to low 20s to mid 40s today.  Nights the rest of the week will be low 20s to upper teens.

Got to get out the gray woolies for winter today.

I read somewhere, might have been the Old Farmers Almanac while waiting in the grocery line to check out, that the mid-Atlantic/Appalachian region (s) is supposed to have a warmer winter but more moisture, ala snow. We will see.

Has anybody else read any predictions?

Neighbor consults the Farmer's Almanac and if I recall, he said our area will remain relatively dry for the first half of Winter and then get wet.
So far, that is exactly the case.    No appreciable rain/snow here but temps are getting down to 12F some mornings here just south of Flagstaff (7,000ft, Colorado Plateau, the "Mogollon Rim")

My dad lived in Williams. I remember one year that it was so dry that the trees were fighting over dogs.
