Opinions on Caliber change over.

Now that my FAL kicked me in the balls, I'm thinking about stepping down in caliber. I think its a wise decision seeing as I can barely afford to train. Meaning I'm rotting away while the scum get thousands of rounds for free to train daily.

When I sell the Socom/FAL what do you think I should do? Stay the course with the 74  and train for 10 cents a bullet?
Or stock up on 7.62x39 and train a little more expensive, but still push the .30 caliber bullet?

If you're going to sell the FAL you might want to look your whole situation over.  You've already got the AK that you seem satisfied with.  I don't recall if you have a distance rifle.  You might think that over.

If you're wanting to put more time into training and need to keep the costs down you might consider on of those AK's in 22 lr.  They don't kick the same but they do have a close feel.  And you're going to need a 22 anyway if you don't have one.  (Plus maybe that lovely wife of yours would be more comfortable shooting it.)

Just a couple of thoughts.  Do what's right for you man.

It was fun.

I think I should stay the course getting an AK in 22  would just throw me off on very important funds that could be used else ware. 

The 74 is still very lethal and I could simply give it to the wife and pick up the 47, everything will be exactly the same.

If I were you, I'd stay with the AK platform. 47/74...what ever it is, it'll be a good choice. Either that, or you can use the money to adopt me, and then I'd buy you (and me) an AK and we be shooting buddies

Yeah lol, you seem to run through guns like my son runs through trucks.  He's wheeled and dealed  through 6 of them in the last year and a half.

I can't help it, I have a thing for moving items especially high end items.

I'm hoping the the 74 will keep me quite for a while seeing as I can shoot a lot of it.

yeah dude if youve already got a 74 and a 47 then just pick one and shoot the shit out of it. dont get focused on the next best thing. just keep your head down and focus on mastering it. what ever "it" may be. the grass is always greener on the other side. pick one and run it.

take me for example... im going to be running a damn shotgun as my primary... its all i can afford and legal own so its what i chose. i know for a fact there are a lot better options out there...but fuck it... im going to master this fucker and get the best possible chance of survival with what ive got.

Yeah, and I think that what I said a long time ago comes into play here.
No matter how bad ass or expensive of a rifle you have, when something stupid happens you'll pick up that 300 dollar AK every time.

The only downside about the 74 is that there is no US company that makes ammo for it.  If they decide to ban/tax the shit out of ammo imports, you have a paperweight.

I'd say stick with the 47 or get the 74 and A LOT of ammo.

If I were getting into the 5.45 game right now, I'd invest $2k in ammo before anything else. The cheap stuff is surplus and it's not a question of if it will dry up but when. When it does, you'll be paying the same price as everyone else does for shitty wolf ammo.

Mags are also more expensive for the 5.45 than the  7.62. So, your initial setup is higher.

  I hear ya on changing up and swoping out calibers? As Far as Platform, You know ahat ya like and what Ya prefer, so stay real inthat? Now, it's all a matter of Caliver., I think Dave and a Few others Nailed it as said that the swop to 5.45X39 is a option but mags cost, ammo avail inthe future and other factors to me, at least make staying with 7.62X39 platform and ammo and simply adding to that or that ammo pile makes the best sense to me? Now, you just need to think if thats the best for you? No one but you will make that finial pick? Chose wisely as time is not on your side?
