So how about you guys tell Spirt what else he needs to look for like the alignment of the rails that the bolt rides on and rivet set?

Alignment of the front site post, gas block, rails upper and lower (upper the bolt carriers rides on lowers the bolt rides on), check the rivits. Its alot of work to find a good store bought AK. Buy a milled receiver AK or a norinco and call it a day, and still have as good or better quality  than an arsenal.

You want a good AK?   Check out a company called Waffen Werks.  Guy at the range had one this past weekend.  Equal to (in some ways, better) than an Arsenal.  They go for around $600 new.
