NFA Tax Stamp
« on: January 16, 2020, 05:54:19 PM »
Looking for other's experiences.
I just got my tax stamp and device today from my local dealer. They have had a lot of employee turnover since I applied and the young kid admitted he did not know how to complete the transaction, and was unable to get anyone at the BATFE to answer the phone.

He refused to give me the original Form 4 with the cancelled tax stamp on it, saying the shop had to keep it... He gave me a copy. I feel this is not correct, but didn't have any more knowledge about it than he did...

Can anyone who has been through this process provide their experience?

I found 27 CFR 179.86 which seems to say I am supposed to receive the form  with the cancelled stamp, but still would like more feedback.

Thanks in advance!

You should absolutely be in possession of the original tax stamp.  The shop does not keep that, You do.  I sould suggest you keep your original in a safe place (safe, etc) and keep a copy with you wherever you would have the item (SBR, Can, etc).

They need to give that original to you!
