Last weekend training
« on: May 19, 2018, 06:04:48 PM »
The idea was to have a portion of the called targets always out of the visual angle from 4 feet behind the window where the drill would start........ This will force the shooter to adjust his position during the drill for targets he could not yet see when threat numbers were given....... Also the expectation was that once all targets (usually 2 or 3) had been successfully serviced the shooter would quickly step back away from the window which you can see me demonstrate in one of the pics....... There was minimal exercise artifice.... shooters were welcome to use the windowsill as a rest or the work the frame on the side to stabilize as needed if they felt they needed to...or to "work" the window in any other way they would see fit as long as they shot thru the window... for the easy targets bracing wasn't necessary.... but as the day went on, temperatures soared and exhaustion set in... it was getting more and more tempting for some to slow down and use the frame as a brace to avoid number of first-round misses.............. When we built this training aid in order to increase rigor i chose height of the windowsill very deliberately to be too tall for the vast majority of shooters to simply kneel behind and shoot over... (there is a separate station "barricade" for this).or to rest the rifle by the rail from the kneeling to make bracing from the kneeling nearly impossible.. so most windowsill bracing was done from a crouch.. bracing the rifle on the sides could be done form standing....... just want to show some things me and some friends are doing to make training more rigorous.

This was an Alpha run on our new configuration involving multiple new barricades and (sometimes blocked) lines of fire etc..so only a very small group of only the most well-trained shooters was doing this check-run on it for safety... before we open it up to our larger group of shooters.
Every day, men who will follow orders to kill you, exercise. Do you?

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

I think the next one the inaugural for our local gang might still be restricted for slots (anything more than 6 men make for too much downtime since we usually run only one lane at a time to maximize training value of off angle shooting and each heat is easily 15-20 minutes long per guy we are currently exploring running 2 lanes at same time to improve throughput) ...
but later in the summer we will run others I can see  a July date as possible I will keep u posted.
