So I bough a Walther Pk380 yesterday. I was eight different shades of excited. It felt good. It fit in my hands and I could operate it perfectly, which is something that's discouraged me in my search for a handgun. I always seem to have trouble operating the basic functions i.e. the mag release and the slide. ((I admit it, I have tiny weak girl hands but in my defense I AM a girl.
)) I've also heard encouraging things about the 380 and how light the recoil can be ((I say again, tiny girl hands)) So blahblahblah I spent about 15 minutes in the gun store mulling it over after I held it and just went for it. Then I spent all that night just
looking at it, grinnin' like a Cheshire cat and patting myself on the back.
Buuuuuutttt... Today I took it the range and the damn thing doesn't shoot straight. I've said on here before that I'm somewhat of a novice gun owner, which means that my aim, to be honest, is terrible. But I when I tried shooting it from about 15 feet away I barely made it on paper. RS also shot it from about the same distance and got the same results. Then later I disassembled it and cleaned it up a bit, mostly out of boredom and just something to do, when we noticed there was a helluva lot of wear on the barrel.
So I get it, I need to find something a lot more reliable and shame on me for being a dumb butt and jumping the gun with this purchase (pun fully intended)
I plan on going back to the gun store tomorrow and talking it over with the guys there and finding a solution.
What I'd like to know is WHY does this happen? I mean is there some specific malfunction that would cause this? Is it possible that the barrel doesn't sit in the slide right? Because in my mind, that would account for the excessive wear and the inaccuracy.
Really I'm just looking to educate myself so I don't make the same mistake twice!
Also, sorry if that was too long...
