What do u guys think about tapco mags?just got two mags in from ctd and they snap in well.how good would u say they are/

Short, accurate. Kinda like a sawed off shotty with a 12" barrel at 2'.
Edit: Topic tie in. Kinda like a sawed off shotty with a 12" barrel at 2' steadied on a stack of AK Mags.

I wouldn't trust my life to them for a number of reasons, but for the 1 way range they work fine.

When ever folks ask about Tapco Mags I try and give a Reasonable anwser and responce, Yes, they do Fit in and lock in well in many AK's.yes in many caes they feed well and function, the Question is Longevity, followed by the question why??? E Euro 30 Rnd Mags are out there by the ton and cheap (Less than $12.00 each) Yes you can Buy and use TAPCO mags but I have to ask why? I have a few Ploymer AK mags all Bulgarian and all have steel feed lips and I expect to last! The Tapco's icve seen long tern did not hold up and were hardly worth more $ than a Steel Military mag easier to find? Thats my .02, but ya did ask?

Shotgun news did an awesome article about this a few months back. Pretty much every brand AK mag performs better than average, with the tapco, bulgarian polymers, and even bakelight mags doing well. The steel mags are #1 all day, but some 30 rd. Polymers might make a nice addition to a light loadout.

I agree 100% with you on this. I see no reason to go and buy something vs something that has worked for more years then Tapco has been in business.
Alslo someone said to leighten the load how much is it really making it that much more leighter? I would venture to say not that much and I doubt if we are in bug out mode we are going to be carrying 30 mags.
My loadout is 6-12 mags at the most with extra ammo.
There are a lot of videos on youtube of guys putting these mags to the test and they fail.

BUY STEEL.
if the rib on the back is so much of a pain go with the Asian (I believe they are) mags with the round back. I bought a few Tapco mags when I first got my rifle cause for range mags they work pretty good. But then I went online and bought a bunch of steel mags. Go steel, and while buying surplus ones you occasionally find one that is flawed, they are cheap and reliable.
Did I mention GO BUY STEEL!? lol

Steel. They last longer and if need be can be used as an effective close in weapon. The same thing applies to wood stocks and your front iron sight.

Hey a plastic stock will do just fine against somebody's head. I prefer ak74s because of the superstrong plastic mags.

Speaking of AK Mags. Here's a test on whether a steel AK mag will stop a 223 and then one of the 7.62x39.
The site is Box 'O Truth. They test the effectiveness of various rounds and shoot up a bunch of stuff to find out what is bullshit.

They function fine most of the time but they're structurally inferior to most any steel magazine. The feed lips and locking tab are completely polymer, which can result in a breakage from dropping them.....which renders the magazine useless. If you're really set on polymer mags I'd check out the Circle 10s, those are metal reinforced if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise I'd stick to the steel mags.
They're good magazines for the price.........but I wouldn't want to stake my life on one. Especially when you can get steel magazines which are infinitely stronger for a few dollars less.

You are correct there lol. The feed lips are about the only thing I don't like on the Pmags. I guess I like those so much because I've thrashed them enough to trust them.

Read my sticky about AK mags. AR mags don't need metal-lined (or metal) feed lips. They also don't need metal locking lugs. Apples and oranges. When changing mags, AR mags almost always fall on the baseplate whereas AK mags more often land directly on the feed lips.
Also, I think PMags are ass. Haven't used them for years.
Also, quality polymer AK magazines are superior to steel magazines. They weigh less and they have a much higher elastic limit (the amount of flex it takes before fixed deformation).
