I've got cabin fever!
« on: January 04, 2018, 09:05:10 PM »
I've been sitting around thinking of tricks I pulled on people in my younger days and thought we could exchange some stories.
My first one was when I was stationed at Shilling AFB in Kansas. A buddy I was walking to the chow hall when we saw a brand new 90 day wonder (second Lewy) walking to us. I said to to my buddy lets salute with our left hand and see what happens. The 90 day wonder got so confused he didn't know which hand to respond with.

Another time while stationed on the gunnery range for B-47's B52's and B58's I took an electrically fired 20mm round and started beating it against the steel frame work of the gun mount until the projectile came off. The officers all took off running expecting an explosion. We did that to every class that came through for gunnery training.

What are some of your stories?

Mmmmmm.

At one house we lived at in my youth we had a root cellar. It was not connected to the house and you had to go outside to enter it.

You would go down ~12 stairs to enter the actual 12x14' enclosure. There were intake and outtake air pipes that came up above the back yard ~ a foot or so.

Anyhow, my buddy and I would lure my brother down into the root cellar, run out and lock the door which left the cellar pitch dark. Then we would drop firecrackers down one of the air intake/outtake pipes.

My brother today does not speak kindly of what my friend and I thought was great fun.  8)

While in the AF (civil engineering squadron, heavy equipment operator) we would tell newbies to go to the back shed and grab 50yards of runway to expand the flightline, its clearly marked and rolled up in the corner  -

Told a guy I needed a bucket of steam once.  He came back half hour later with a bucket of steam.  Generated by a 2 pound block of dry ice in the bottom of the otherwise empty (except for steam) bucket.

He got me proper.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

a CPL in front of a promotion board - being tested on his knowledge of general orders.
Board member:  "You are on guard duty and a submarine surfaces in your guard post."  "What do you do?"
CPL: "Is it an enemy of friendly sub?"
Board member:  "enemy."
CPL:  "i shoot it with a torpedo."
incredulous board member: "where did you get a torpedo?"
CPL:  "same place you got a sub."

he said it with a straight face :)
