Every 6 months we empty our water storage containers and refill with tap water. We also do a visual inspection and sniff test before refilling. No issues all these years.

Good idea!

Right on DM! Thanks for the reminder.
Back when we lived in Rhode Island and 5 hrs. away from the redoubt, I stored gas (5, 5 gallon cans) and would rotate through them every 6-months.

Great Idea! I keep six 5-gallon fuel cans of treated gas on hand. Every two months I dump one of them into my truck and refill the can and treat the fuel. This ensures that I always have a small supply of fuel on hand and it gets rotated within a year. I have been doing this for over 5 years and have not had in problems with the fuel yet.
I also keep five 5-gallon (20 liters) military-style water cans (they are actually plastic) on hand. This started with just a couple that we used for boondock tent camping trips each spring and fall. When my son and girlfriend started camping with us, I had to increase the amount of water we took each trip. I ended up with the five cans.
Because we live where hurricanes can occasionally affect us, we also keep five cases of bottled water (40 bt. or 20 liters per case) on hand stacked up in the heated/cooled garage. We buy and rotate the cases periodically as they get used. I write the date we bought each case on the side so we can track the age. So far we have never NEEDED to use the water ourselves, but we have given a few cases to others when they have had water outages in the past. It always amazes me that people never think about how the water they use every day gets to their houses or what would happen if it was suddenly not available to them for some reason.

These are all great routines. What is your routine?

I have 3 gas cans, 5 gallons each. I use one of them to top up a car every month and refill it. Its basically a 3 month rotation. I have been planning on getting another 3 cans and doing 2 cans a month.
So far I have had no need to Sta-Bil anything yet.

SB,
We have seven 5 gallon gas cans that we keep full at all times. We fill them in the summer so that it is summer blend premium, 91 or better octane with no ethanol. Add stabil before filling and these are good for 2 years. Then the gas is used in a pontoon boat. No issues with any motor. Same thing for our toy hauler?s fuel tank that we use for the atv?s, refilled every summer. I do change the gas out of our generator every summer. Also add stabil to our fishing boat?s tank at end of summer and fill it then.
Winter blend fuel will lose the lighter products over time and won?t last as long.
