Get Extra Plant Protein
« on: July 23, 2020, 06:33:30 PM »
Seems really really healthy.  But I suspect a situation where it was necessary to get into a second big bag of beans, these issues would be of little concern.

Diets higher in protein, particularly plant protein, linked to lower rates of early death: study
This type of diet has beneficial effects on cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugars
By Amy McGorry | Fox News

The results of a new study may give you a reason to make a three-bean salad or snack on hummus.

According to a report published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), diets rich in protein, particularly plant protein, are linked to a lower risk of early death. The study said diets consisting of plant proteins including beans, lentils, and nuts can lower the risk of early death -- while swapping meat for a plant protein could increase your longevity.

A group of researchers from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran and Harvard University reviewed 32 studies on this topic. The authors found that a high intake of total proteins decreased the risk of death from all causes and cardiovascular diseases. The researchers stated one reason for this could be that this type of diet has beneficial effects on cholesterol and lipid profiles, blood pressure and blood sugars, which are all risk factors for diabetes and heart disease.

Shrink-wrapped meats gone?  Small and big game shot out around the homestead?  Big stash of beans to carry you through?  You are going to go "plant-protein"?   You MUST become aware vegan guides in this where plant proteins are concerned.
Meat contains all of the amino acids needed to put that protein to work in your digestive tract/body.
Singularly, plants do not.
It's about getting the complete balance in sufficient quantity, not dependent on source.
Not a problem.
IF... you consume the balance of plants together... that compliment each other where amino acids are concerned.

And adding some jars of B12 capsules to your stable, cool storage along with some protein powders would not run amiss.

We have been buying in stocks of Textured Vegetable Protein for a while now. It is also called Soya Mince. Since it comes as a dried product it cans be sealed up and stored wit a very long shelf life.

We do use it every so often in our daily meals just to refine recipes. If you reconstitute it in a meat broth. It takes on the flavor of that broth. It gas the consistency of ground meat and we use it in recipes as such.

It is pretty good value for money here in the UK when buying in bulk.
