Title: DIY Wine
Post by: JohnyMac on September 02, 2021, 01:21:34 PM
Wine making time has come to my neck of the woods. This generic DIY article (https://www.instructables.com/Making-Wine-From-Kits/) is a great overview.

My neighbors use locally harvested fruits, blue berry's, raspberry's, pears, etc. as well as wine kits described in the article.

I am a big fan of making and drinking hard cider (https://www.instructables.com/Simple-Hard-Cider/). I use a book titled, The Art of Making Cidermaking by Paul Correnty (https://www.amazon.com/Art-Cidermaking-P-Correnty/dp/093738142X). The best book I have ran across on this subject - Easy, simple to understand, and some great recipes.

I have made a friend of a local cider press farmer who fills my four carboys from the last pressing of the year. More natural sugar along with natural yeast. I tend to use Lager yeast as I like the finished product. There are a whole host of yeasts you can use including cider yeast and natural yeast. I LOVE only using natural yeast however, there is a greater chance it will not work out - The end product coming out cloudy and a bit 'off'.

Post this years success and failures here.
