The judge has the authority to say that he believes the jury didn't understand the law. Then the Judge can declare him innocent, but he can't declare him guilty. Years ago, when I learned that, I thought it was odd that he could set aside the jury's verdict but then when I found out that he could only declare the defendant innocent, it started to make some sense. I think it is something based on Thomas Jefferson's statement, "It is better to let the guilty go free than to convict an innocent man." Considering the corrupt Judge and the Prosecutor are against Trump, I don't see the verdict being set aside.
