Winter Field Day
« on: January 26, 2025, 10:28:51 PM »
Did any of our forum members participate in Winter Field Day?  My wife and I assisted our local radio club with the event.  Definitely less participation versus the summer event.  We had fun, didn?t make a lot of contacts, but had some great conversations and fellowship.

My club didn't have a winter field day this year, the club is focusing strategizing to win the club award for the upcoming state QSO Party. Last March, I participated in the QSO Party, my first and only time to work a contest. It was a good experience. I won the High Mobile Rookie Award and the Highest Contacts for my County Award. I'll probably participate again this March.

My club has over 60 members with about 35 attending the monthly meetings. We have some great presentations and regular local nets on HF and the two club repeaters, 2 meters and 1.25 meters.

Our club N3SRC participated. Our classification was 5I and section was EPA. I do not know the final, final numbers however when MrsMac and I left about 1500E hrs Sunday we had 250+ contacts.

~50 CW
~30 Digital
~170 Phone.

The event started out slow but gathered steam late afternoon Saturday and into the evening. Sunday too started out slow but picked up after normal church going hours.

We hung most of the antennas Friday.

We served breakfast and lunch Saturday with a baked spiral ham Saturday night. All participants brought a dish to pass.

Sunday, we served breakfast and left overs for lunch.

A good time was had by all....

PS, Rookie Round-up in April.
