Great Cooter!
Looks like we will have a half dozen or so folks participating on tonight's Net, either just listening or TX & RXing.
Tonight's topic will be...Do you have an area map going out 'X' miles from your AO keeping track of incidence around your AO and highlighting repeaters, hospitals, police barracks, military armory's, etc?
I will see ya' on the air tonight!

I'll try to be there. Don't forget that the 3.818 Mhz TAPRN net starts at 9 PM. I'm going to try to do both nets. Yesterday and today was the Virginia QSO party. I made a contact with a guy in Cumberland county and another guy in Augusta county. I used the opportunity to check out how my range would be using my 80 meter vertical at 30 feet up for close in contacts. It looks like I'm good to go out to about 100 miles radius. That should be great in a SHTF situation.

I am on freq.
-
I have a huge noise floor here
KA2DTH
-
Yeah, on 75 meters the noise level here is S9, on 40 meters it's S3m but there doesn't seem to be any propagation.
-
No problems BC.
Because of the noise we tried the alternate freq. 7.214 which was worse than the Primary 3.969.
We had four folks on the Priamry at 2000 hrs. Two were very readable, one started out good and then dipped below the noise level.
Jackalope, came in and out however I was able to read him at about 90%. PK was strong as get out then he too fell off the meter.
Good job folks!
Patriotman was monitoring the net on his SW radio and he reported that he could hear us BUT was just below the noise level.
-
I was able to check in, and heard Johnny Mac and a couple other stations. But then everyone faded out. There was qrm from an AM station, along with the folks up near Johnny's area. Still, had a qso.
There's a Spanish language AM broadcast station at 40 over on the secondary freq.

I heard snippets of conversations with words like bug out locations, but conditions faded in and out.
Solid S-9+ noise here on 80m and a strong station on 40m a few Hz away.
Sorry folks...Maybe next time, or start on 20m, then 15 min later step to 40m, then 80m 15 minutes later?
-
Roger. I could hear the conversatipn without understanding the words.
If I hadn't left the powercord......

SUCCESS Patriotman! Hey, it is radio ;)
BC, glad you could hear snippets of the conversation. Sorry you could not join in - Next time.
Cooter, you started out strong and then faded. Sorry brother.
PK, you were the strongest. I have a pipeline into VA. right now. I am listening to a QSO there right now. Crystal clear!
I know this is frustrating trying to connect but oh well it's radio. The sun just isn't helping us out.

I am now on 160-meters and spinning the dial. No noise at all. Listening to a bunch of QSO's. LOL.

I am on the TARPAN net right now, 3.818 Mhz. And although it os noisy I am hearing most folks as far south as northern FL, west to the Mississippi and north to Lake Ontario.
I am wondering if we should shoot for a net lower in the band in the future - Around 3.820 Mhz. Thoughts?
