I am sorry that I could not NCS either net last evening. I just didn't want to push my luck and have a radio or amp go "poof".
Last nights storm was a weird one. At first there was no thunder or lightening but my noise level was high on the transceiver, around 20 and then about every 30 or so seconds a static crash. Then the lightening started to hit all around us but no thunder. At which time W3OOF ran to our bedroom and stuck her head under our bed. Ever see a 70-lb Dutch Shepherd try to squeeze under a bed.
Then the thunder began.
I checked out the barometer and that was falling faster than my hopes of getting a date with a super model. The air smelled of ozone and then the rain came but it was a light rain not a deluge which I would have expected.
Like I have written, it was a weird one for sure.
Reports from the 4B's MAG and radio club members had similar reports. Some with no rain while some farther southwest towards Wilkes Barre (About 70-miles) had heavy winds and lots of heavy rain. East of me, almost nothing.
Anyway, there you go. A short AAR of last evening's festivities. As we move into the later parts of spring, I suspect we will see more of these types of storms and again in late August.
As a side note, it is not uncommon for the valley that runs through Scranton and Wilkes Barre to have tornadoes this time of year and again in late summer. Similarly north of us in New York, the valley that runs along the Susquehanna river starting in Horse Heads then running through Binghamton and then east into the Catskills experiences tornadoes too. It is nice to live in the mountains.
