Still looking for NCS (Net Control Station) volunteers. Jackalope was the first to step up for the phone net - Thank you. Hopefully, some others will raise their hand this month.

Remember, what happens if I get hit by a bus? Heck, I might commit suicide by shooting myself in the back of the head

To review, the reason why folks should volunteer to be NCS are,

> To give folks an opportunity to practice being a NCS,
> For all of us to see how others do the net. We can all learn, and
> I will not be around all the time. Heck, I might be "Clintoned" one dark and stormy night.

Here is the SOI for this coming Tuesday's net.

The next ERIN net will be Tuesday July 27, 2021, starting at 1900 hrs. eastern with the digital ERIN net. The PACE for that net is as follows,

1) At 1900 hrs. eastern the digital net will commence.

Primary 7.110 Mhz USB Contestia 4/250 1000 on the Waterfall
Alternate 3.588 Mhz USB Contestia 4/250 1000 on the Waterfall

When the Net Control Station (NCS) calls for check-in's this is the reporting format,

de your call/name/location/emergency traffic/ de your call

Once the NCS has gathered check-in's he/she will post the check-in's for corrections or additional check-in's.

The NCS will then start the reports portion of the digital net. Report format will be,

de your call/name/location/traffic if any/your report for around your AO, Covid, unrest, military movement, etc/weather/de your call

2) At 2000 hrs the voice net will commence.

Primary 7.238 Mhz LSB or higher till clear air
Alternate 3.968 Mhz LSB or higher till clean air

Hopefully I can participate in a few nets, I'd like to try digital again, last time was when I first got my General and I only had an Icom IC-707 and a homebrew serial interface. Now I have this fancy schmancy lunchbox of radio with a USB port right on the back! My schedule will change in a couple weeks to allow me to participate fairly regularly. I have no issue with being NCS at some point in the future, I actually find it fun. Just need to get my digital legs under me again, and make sure all my settings are optimal.

I just received a Weather Alert from NOAA on my cell phone, announcing severe thunderstorms/damaging winds this late afternoon/evening around my AO. My point here is, I may not be Non frequency for this evening's digital or phone ERIN net.

If I am not on frequency 10-minutes before the designated net (s) time hopefully, someone else will pick up the NCS duties.

With that, do not forget the ERIN net this evening.

Looking for reports on Elsa prep if any for your AO,
Inflation reports, food, gas, etc. from this weekend,
Shortage reports from this weekend, and
Other items the net would find interesting.

I just looked at the doppler Radar for your area. It looks like you had a really strong cell go right over you. It looks good for radio after 5:30 PM but I'll bet you'll have static crashes off to the East from you.

We had five check-ins, counting myself on the phone net. No major issues reported. Good signals overall. Thank you to all who checked in.

Thank you Jackalope for picking up the net.

I did the digital net after a nasty series of cells went through which knocked out phones and the internet for the area. Heck, I heard the tornado alert siren 5-miles away in our little hamlet around 1600-hrs. Internet is back up this morning.

I sat down in my La-z-boy after the digital net before the phone net. About 30-minutes later, MrsMac shook my shoulder and said, "don't you have the ERIN net? I hear Jackalope on frequency."

I ran upstairs to the loft and sure enough my good friend, had taken over the net. Thank you good sir!

I could hear everybody but as PKv stated, there were a lot of crashed post our t-storm drama.

Digital, there was only 2 folks counting me. I appreciate my good friend from NC, who always shows up for the digital net. Thank you.

As I am typing this report, I just received a NOAA alert on my computer. Another round of storms coming through this afternoon into evening. Does not look as severe as yesterdays though.

No worries Jackalope.

I need a NCS for both the digital and phone net tonight. I just received a warning text from NOAA that, severe storms coming to my AO tonight around the time of the two nets.

Yesterday, I received a Severe Weather text a/nd boy O' boy it was right on the mark. Rain, lightening, thunder, high winds, and a tornado siren going off in town along with tornado warning texts requesting all folks who received the text, to go to their cellar. To be honest, I do not remember experiencing a storm lake the one last night.

Consequently, we expect the same tonight. Hence the request for a NCS.

Waiting to hear the report from the two teams that are investigating possible tornadoes in the counties on either side of us. I'm getting used to dodging downed trees on my way to work every night. Besides the severe weather, I have to take the War Department to the airport at 0-Dark-Thirty. I'm off next week, and the weather is supposed to calm down a bit, so hopefully I can get on the nets. Going to have to spend a couple hours to make sure I have my digital set up correctly.

As of 1830 hrs, the storm cells marching there way east are at bay.

W3OOF, is antsy so I know the storms are close. She keeps picking up tennis balls from around the house and putting them in her kennel/bed so something is a-coming.

I have not read of any volunteers, so I will re-hook-up the antennas and try to do NCS duties on digital and voice.

Great digital and phone net last evening.

The wall of nastiness west of us held off till just after 2100 hrs. yesterday which gave me a window to re-hookup the antennas and be NCS for both the digital and phone. When the nastiness did arrive it wasn't as bad as Monday night and no tornado warnings - YEAH!

Digital we had seven stations that checked in but only five gave a report. I always think it odd how folks check in but then vanish into the night. I guess some folks are a bit leery being on a prepping net. One of the seven stations tried to check in however, I could only read about 50% of what they were TXing.

A station from Maryland reported that there is moderate unrest around their AO being caused by AntiFa and BurnLootMurder Inc. protests. It is interesting that we are not hearing about it from the MSM. I suspect there is a lot of protesting going on from the earlier mentioned groups then is being reported on.

Phone we also had seven check ins. Everybody was pretty clear with the exception of one station however, the group did a good job relaying information. Our good friend from Alabama did report that although basics are still available the shelves are looking a bit depleted specifically, flour and sugar. He also reported that one staple that is in short supply in his grocery store is, coffee. After the net I did a quick search on the interwize and in fact there is a shortage of coffee coming from Brazil, which is our countries major supplier. This is due to a water shortage for irrigation and the shortage of containers.

Brazil produces the bulk of the coffee for the low end vendors like, Folgers, Maxwell House, Eight O' Clock, etc.

Starbucks reported that they have seen no shortages of the coffee they roast and sell as the majority of their coffee comes from the Indonesian and African countries; However, purchasing pressure will affect these producers and importers too as supplies from Brazil will be curtailed.

Right now we're looking at a ~50% chance of thunderstorms here around Net time. Really hoping to at least monitor digital and check in to the phone net. I think I have the software and radio set up correctly, been at least 10 years since I've done digital anything.

Yeah, thunder storms have been an issue of late. Jackalope will be there if needed during the phone time.

Sorry I missed the net. I had to make 100 mile round trip to Richmond and back and I took a nap when I got home and woke up at 10 pm.

Nothing really to report except, fuel prices continues to rise. Chicken feed rising along with poor haying in the North East thanks to insistent rain since mid-June.

I could only hear Johny and PK tonight. I couldn't hear Brian at all, which surprised me since he's relatively close by and usually he has a booming signal here. Weird propagation.
