It might be handy to have a 'watering hole' "bulletin board"on the radio BETWEEN the weeekly ERIN Net gathering. This would be on the standard JS8call frequencies for regional coverage.

What say ye ?!?!

I'll be monitoring 7078 on/off for the next few days. Use group call @ERIN to ring me.

I didn't try JS8CALL when I first heard about it because I associated it with FT8, and I have no interest in "Ham by Mouse". Now that I've gotten it up and running, I'm seeing the potential in this mode. Still a lot to learn about the protocols and syntax, but it's a keeper for sure.

I've seen a couple of stations specifically check-in and leave a message. I only stop by the station once or twice per hour, between tasks :-)

>>>====> My station will be on 7078USB JS8call frequency with the group call set to "@ERIN" for most of the daylight hours. From tonight onward I will not keep my station constantly parked here, because I do enjoy playing radio elsewhere.
Drop me a line. A group call to ERIN should have my station automatically transmit callsign & etc.

I say yay.
I haven't had any luck with the existing ERIN net on 80 m but I think JS8 will do better for me, especially on 40 m.
-
I'm trying to leave the radio on 7078 as much as possible from around 0800-1400 ET. If I'm home on Monday and Tuesday nights, I'll try to stay on 3578 except for the ERIN times.

After Action Summary:
1. JS8call on 7078USB worked well for the couple of days of 24/7 testing. Stations easily dropped-by after using the group call ERIN as a call-up.
2. Some sent and later retrieved short messages.
3. As a 'watering hole' I'd say it was a success, ecpecially considering the very short notice.
4. Likely scenario is 40 daylight and 80m at sundown'ish. That's not official, just an idea (eye-deer).
Time for a wee dram of fine Irish elixir and a bit of tobacco, then back on to projects.
What are the thoughts from the team?
