I normally keep it at 30 watts, but during last night's net, I had bumped it up to 50 watts before we started, but still a no-go.
My assumption, when it comes to someone being NCS, is that it's a grid-down situation when it really counts, and in that case, running on battery power becomes a real consideration. I've got three 70 Ah LiFePO4 batteries that I switch between running the station and charging with the solar panels, but I still pay close attention to how much juice it's drawing. With the IC-7300 at 30%, the Raspberry Pi, and a 12 VDC monitor, I can get two days worth with a bit of a buffer remaining before switching batteries.
