BINGFU Antennas
« on: October 10, 2024, 10:27:50 PM »
Well, I ordered 2 BINGFU antennas from Amazon. They arrived tonight at 8:27 PM. 8:27 PM? Yep, but I don't care. They said they'd be here on the 10th and here they are. They cost me $25 each and I pretty much expected them to be the same as my other TRAM, 2 meter/440 mag mount antennas. Nope. They look OK but I'll have to put them on my antenna analyzer to see where they are resonant. The mag mounts are a little bit smaller than my TRAM mag mounts. They even came with free adapters to fit the SMA connectors on the Handi-talkies. Now, I'll bet you're asking yourself, "Why is this clown ordering more antennas when he already has a spare one out in the shed?" Well, I was looking on Amazon the other day and the price of the TRAM antennas had jumped up to $35 each. I started looking around for something comparable and found these for $25 each, so I decided to give them a try. I'm thinking that sometime in the very near future, I'm going to need to help some of my MAG members boost their transmit range of their BAOFENG handi-talkies by hooking them up to an outside antenna or use them in the car. They will work just fine in the neighborhood with the rubber ducks until they want to venture away from home. I'll let you know how well they work when I get motivated and dig out my antenna analyzer. Well, how bad can a Chinese antenna be if it's the right length and has the little curly thingy in the middle?

Can those things be spread with some type of dry virus that sticks on it until it gets handled in set up or adjusting or hook up or something.

Then it gets into you and lays around letting you spread it to the neighborhood.  Then everyone dies and china takes over the world?

I heard on the internet things like that could happen with those.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

: The short answer is "No". However, if you live anywhere near Forest, Virginia, then you're screwed.

Well, I decided to hook up one of the BINGFU antennas on my car. Instead of putting the antenna analyzer on it, I used the new SURECOM, Freq counter/VSWR/Power/efficiency % meter on it and checked all the bands. Inside the Ham and outside the Ham bands. The worst VSWR was a bit above 2:1 and the best was 1.5:1. 1.5:1 showed a 90% efficiency and the 25 watt radio was putting out 22.5 watts. Now, would I recommend the BINGFU? I suppose so. I've seen so called GOOD antennas get about the same results. The one thing that really jumped out at me was the location of the Twisty Curly thingy was about 1 inch lower on the vertical rod than on my TRAM antenna. :what:
