Title: Interest in a CLS Class
Post by: mechmedic on March 11, 2019, 10:49:06 PM
NC Scout has approached me about doing a CLS (Combat Life Saver) Class. I’m going to have more free time once my semester ends in May. Would there be a big interest in a one day combat oriented medical class? If so I will put together a lesson plan and start getting all my supplies together. Price would probably be in the 150ish area. It would be at NC Scouts training area (unless he says otherwise). It would cover Tourniquet usage, wound packing, chest seal placement, packaging a casualty for transport, casualty movement techniques, and how to pack a basic IFAK. If you have any questions post them here so everyone isn’t asking me the same questions over and over again.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

This is one of my biggest weakness areas.

If he could stack it so that a second day was one of his one day courses, it would make the 8 hour trip more meaningful.

Mechmedic, yes and no.

Currently, I drive 9 to 11-hours (Depending on traffic) to NCScouts redoubt. So if the class is there it would be great if he offered also. One of his one day classes like his Long Range Shooting class. So one day a CLS class and then one day another class.

If your class was 5 to 6 hours away then a one day class would work for me.

PLEASE, do not worry about me. Do what is best for you and the other students who sign-up.

Yes, please! and also agree with JohnyMac and say I would like 2 days and camping option.

If it is at NCS's location camping is 100% an option as that is what I do when I got there.

I think I can go for this.  Place to dry camp in an 18 foot camper would be perfection.  But I can do a tent if I have to.

Depending upon when it's given, I'd be interested in attending.

Just had an amazing almost hour long conversation with NC Scout. He has already posted the class up on his website. June 1-2.

Thanks mechMedic! I didn't know this  :o

For you folks who would like to attend, some background at NCScouts Redoubt.

1) There is plenty of space to camp - Plenty! If you do not want to put up a tent there is a 6,000 sf green house to pump
up a air mattress and lay in comfort.
2) If you want to bring a trailer, there is plenty of room. I would still get a A-okay from Scout though.
3) There is a Food-Lion about 3-miles away and a ABC store about 2-miles away.

If anybody would like to go from north of the Mason-Dixon, you can meet up at the JohnyMac redoubt or along the way south along I-81.

Here (https://brushbeater.wordpress.com/training-calendar/) is a link to NCScouts training calendar.

Thx again mechMedic!

I just signed up. June 1 and 2.

Again, if you are north of the MD line and want to meet at JohnyMac's cabin great. If you are along the I-81 corridor from NE PA, down to Roanoak, VA. and you want to join the caravan of like-minded folks to central-North N.Carolina, drop me a PM.

It would be great if at least half the class was made up of Unchainedpreppers alumni.

I'm looking into figuring it all out for getting in on this.

FYI all.  On I-81 at exit 150 in Va head east off the ramp, first light (pretty sure its first light) turn right, 150 yard is the cheapest gas in 100 miles.
