lets see - last time they got into debt they just inflated it away.  I have one of the Zimbabwean notes -  with all those zero's on it. (their hyper inflation in 2008 hit 8x10 to the 10th percent or alternatively 79.6 Billion percent) -

sure they'll pay - but it may not be worth much.
