The fellow is right.  Bad times are probably coming.  Not many of my firearms go pew-pew.  Most of them are very loud.  One of the neighbors stopped by the other day and inquired whether I had been shooting a couple of evenings prior.  I admitted that I had been practicing, and he said he can tell when I'm firing versus other neighbors, because my shots are very regular double taps, and no one else locally does double taps.  While we were chatting in the yard, another neighbor started firing nearby, so even with the ammo shortage there are plenty of folks getting ready for the bugaloo or other festivities.  I just hope it doesn't come to that; hope for the best, plan for the worst.  Interestingly, the fellow making the inquiries doesn't like firearms, though his wife has her concealed handgun permit, and she has shot with me at our home range.  The neighbor was there watching while we practiced using one of the pew-pew guns, and he looked through the scope, but he wouldn't fire the gun.  His wife is in charge of security in their household.

The neighbor who doesn't like guns will probably have a rapid change of heart when the shooting starts. I personally enjoy target shooting and hope I never have to shoot at another person but, as a Prepper, one day I might have to. You should casually mention to your neighbor that if he ever has to use a gun, the point and shoot method that a newbie would have to use is only effective at less than 20 feet.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if the nation does go kinetic.  This particular neighbor has mentioned forming a neighborhood watch group, and he wants me to be in charge of security, and I've already declined.  I'm fine with providing security for my own household and property, but I don't feel that I'm knowledgeable enough enough to do the same for a wide area.  I'd prefer to have someone with military experience be in charge of security, someone who has real life experience.  I'd be willing to assist, but I don't want that responsibility; I know my limitations.

I think this fellow would decline to fire a gun, even if his life depended upon it.  However, his wife is experienced with both handguns and shotguns and I don't believe she would hesitate to protect herself.  She has also learned to appreciate firearms with suppressors.  I think there are enough local shooters that we would be moderately safe if the SHTF.  Most local folks are self sufficient, with gardens and well stocked larders, and most importantly many are experienced hunters.

From afar I have been watching what has been happening in my home country.

My hopes and prayers are with you all.

Watching the out of control left manipulate the situation to divide the nation. Is heart breaking.

Just when I think things are as crazy as I could believe. It gets worse.

A Soldier for life

Good for you JoJo. I went for years without one and had to keep it displayed when driving. Then in about 1995, I went to the County Sheriff's Office with my 357 magnum and my CCW form all filled out and the Sheriff drove me to the police range and I had to show him that I could load it, fire it, and unload it. I asked him what he wanted me to shoot at and he said, " I don't care if you shoot at the ground as long as can hit it". I picked out a small branch on a bush about 20 yards away and said that I would shoot the branch. I nailed all six shots. Now the government dumbasses want you to take a class or prove that you served in the military. Now if I leave the house without it, I feel like I'm buck naked.

Congratulations Jojo!  Do you already have a handgun?  If not, what are you planning to acquire?

I agree PK, I never leave home without at least one.  Sometimes a discrete PDW or a shotgun also accompanies me, depending upon my destination.  These days it's foolish to not carry, because when seconds count, the police are minutes away.
