Saikat Chakrabarti: Understand Him and You Will Understand AOC

Saikat Chakrabarti is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (AOC) Chief of Staff.

Chakrabarti is a founding member of the Justice Democrats and a follower of Indian Fascist Leader, Subhas Chandra Bose.

Bose supported Hitler and Mussolini during WW II and it is suspected that he helped in the planning of the Japaneses invasion of India. Time ran out though when the USA started to gain ground in the Pacific in 1943.

In the below YT vid, is Chakrabarti wearing a Bose T-Shirt (At 1:15). This would be like wearing another murderer/Revolutionary T-Shirt like Che Guevara Mao, or Stalin.

caveat - i'm not a fan of AOC. I have no clue who Saikat Chakrabarti is - other than the article posted below.

About Bose - he was a nationalist trying to toss the Brits our of India.  In that role, he worked with several groups who didn't like GB.  including the Axis in WWII. 
pegging that interaction to him being a Nazi is  a bit like calling Neville Chamberlain or even Charles Lindbergh or Henry Ford a Nazi.  Bose, in India, is something of a national hero for his work in ousting the British Raj. 

A Nationalist lean would put him more on par with Trump not AOC.  I think Saikat is more of a social democrat by action than a nationalist. So, more  Che Guevara than Mao or Stalin.

JM, i get it.  but i think you and i will have to disagree on this one.

I'm not calling either Trump or Saikat 'National Socialists' or fascists.  too extreme for either in my opinion.
but if i had to keep score by actions performed.  Trump scores pretty high in the nationalist scale. - build that wall, demanding loyalty oaths from various individuals - personal loyalty oaths, not to the Constitution.  keeping personal family members in his cabinet.  assigning cabinet posts as patronage not by qualification.  that counts for me.

Saikat's pretty high in the social democrat scale. - the whole green new deal.

personally i don't much like politicians - they, IMHO, are a necessary evil in a republic but should be kept on a very short leash.  i'm interested in precision and truth of action not rhetoric.  we have so much propaganda on both sides its frustrating.

JFK wasn't pure as the driven snow either.  one of the reasons for nepotism laws - other then the obvious graft issues - is that genius rarely happens twice in the same family in succession.  JFK doing it doesn't make it right.

from my perspective a patriot believes in the 'system of laws'  The Constitution, The laws, ect.
a nationalist uses the name of the country without the idea or spirit or even a hand wave toward the laws and ideas of a country.  Pass a law or sign a decree (for our non US citizen friends, an Executive Order signed by the US President can, in some cases have the force of law - it can still be overturned within the Supreme Court and /or our bicameral chambers).

If you say yes, then that is mostly nationalism.  if you say no, then mostly patriot.

the argument that you can ignore the laws for your own plans - because you know better than everyone else.  Especially when you trample other peoples rights in the process, it makes me queasy.  Even if well intended, you are still on that proverbial slippery slope.  There is a lot of grey area and even overlap.  My worry is the unintended consequences down the road.

lets skip anything before his presidency. 
lets skip tort issues like the bribe to a porn star - that he lied about.  its only a campaign violation.
-sort of like Clinton/Lewinsky, i'll let him and his wife sort that one out.

the emoluments clause - several times over.  starting with his inauguration.
- the back door deal between Jared K. and the Emirates. 
- selling patronage - ok, lets skip this one - ambassadorships should have their own auction web page.
- Ivanka's 'golden visa' with each condo bought speil.  also still under investigation.
- Ivanka's trade mark deals with China - while as a cabinet member negotiating business deals during negotiations with China.
- the hotel deal in WDC. for a federally owned parcel sold to Trump's business, while he was President.

On Ivanka Trump being a cabinet member - she is a special advisor to the President and on the payroll.
a government position/job within the POTUS's cabinet. Jared is not only that but a special envoy too.

the smoke and mirrors seem to run both ways.

- to AOC and her CoS Saikat - i was pointing out he isn't necessarily sympathetic to the WWII National Socialists.  Only that he was wearing a Tshirt with one of his home country's founding fathers.
- so what is behind Trump?  His patriotism extends to avoiding STD's during the Vietnam conflict.  or spending money from a US Veteran charity on a painting of himself and to pay off a lawsuit ruling.  all the while hugging the flag.  Like many businessmen, he can be very slippery with his jargon - so look at actions. 
by actions, Trump seems to be high up on the nationalist scale.  He doesn't seem to get to the fascist level.  Its probably just how he is used to managing things.  within all that - he made some accomplishments and some real stinkers... 
I just finished doing my taxes.  they didn't go up - my refund went down.  The billionaires taxes went down and will stay down.  to me its an annoyance.  to a family of 4 living paycheck to paycheck its another burden.
 
Trump has shaken things up  - probably a good thing - he has shown a spot light on several current problems in our country.  to dissect one Trump statement - during the campaign <speaking to the stock market levels> 'We're in a big fat bubble.'  a few months later and the bubble is larger.  Trump says 'We have accomplished an economic turnaround of historic proportions.'  same bubble. (reminds me of a speech by Herbert Hoover)

Other than the tax reform, no major economic changes, manufacturing jobs are fleeing the country faster now than under the last administration.  a quick walk in shadowstats or a glance at the debt clock can tell that story all by itself.

same applies to our neo-democratic socialists the whole 'justice democrats'.  - too far into socialism for my taste.  Bernie Sanders is further to the right than they are!

I am very concerned that, in our current zeitgeist, weighted language is used with commonly understood meaning and then that meaning is slowly changed.  Been that way since long before i was born.  I try not to fall into that rhetorical trap.  I'm interested in the truth.
