NRA Statement BLASTS Media, Dispels Financial Rumors

The National Rifle Association issued a press release to its members on Friday assuring members that rumors about political infighting and financial instability are unfounded.

The statement follows a slew of headlines from the mainstream press, which suggested that the NRA has been substantially weakened from within. The lobby group is currently fighting an audit and other attacks on its finances by New York state government authorities.

Media hit pieces have focused on abrupt leadership changes in the NRA, which included the ousting of former president Oliver North. Headlines focused on an alleged dispute between North and current NRA CEO and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.

“Perhaps looking for a way to counter the narrative about a stronger, more unified NRA, questions have now conveniently surfaced about our financial situation and our standing in the regulatory arena,” the statement read. “There also have been frequent attacks on [LaPierre’s] personal character.”

The statement continued to target rumors that the NRA was underfunded, and had perhaps been exaggerated its membership rolls.

“We are on budget in 2019,” the lobby group continued. “The NRA is meeting all banking and supplier financial obligations and we continue to aggressively manage our cost structure to offset the orchestrated and calculated attacks against NRA’s finances in 2018. Put another way, our financial house is in order – we aren’t going away.”

The NRA is routinely the topic of hit pieces from the mainstream press. Pundits and far-left activists often accuse the pro-gun group of being complicit in mass shootings, such as those that occurred in Las Vegas and Parkland, Florida in 2018. Referring to the NRA as a “terrorist organization” has become an edgy trope for progressive ideologues.

The statement concluded by doubling down on promises that the group is still capable of effectively advocating for the Second Amendment.

“The Second Amendment is where it is today because of all of OUR efforts,” it said. “We are the NRA. United we stand. And together, we’ll win.”

The NRA didn't help folks in New York State with the SAFE act.  Personally, I don't feel that they are effective as they have been in the past.  I think it's time for Wayne Lapierre to retire, he's been there too long.  The NRA Board of Directors has had some excellent personnel.  Overall I give them a B+ grade, as I find their responses to different gun issues to be inconsistent.  For example, they made minimal effort to thwart the bump stock issue.  I'll be really interested to see how they react to a suppressor ban.

The problem is that while there are some other groups, none are as effective or far reaching as the NRA. Catch-22
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Psalm 144:1-2
