Title: Make Some Calls Gents
Post by: Nemo on November 30, 2017, 12:09:22 PM
I know there are some here who are not real supportive of National Reciprocity.  If you are one of them, just read the latter part and call on HR 4434.

If you are supportive, read it all, and call on all.

This is from the Virginia Citizens Defense League, VCDL,  State NRA type organization, of which I am a pround member, so I know its valid.

ACTION ITEM

National Concealed Carry Reciprocity, H.R. 38, cleared the House Judiciary Committee in Congress today by a 19 to 11 vote!  Some anti-gun Democrats tried to weaken the bill, but the Republicans rejected the effort.

It now heads to the House Floor.   I'm not sure when it will be voted on at this time.

If you haven't contacted your Representative in support of H.R. 38, now would be a good time to do so.

There was some BAD news, though.  We all need to contact our Representative to OPPOSE H.R. 4434, which is the "Fix NICS" bill.  H.R. 4434 is an anti-gun bill that will be used to strip gun rights from more people without due process.  This bill, unfortunately, was also voted out of the Judiciary Committee today and will be heading to the House Floor.

I have rethought my position on National Reciprocity - I support it.

Several months ago I had breakfast with a retired Binghamton, NY police officer. He convinced me that:

1) Having restrictions on the Second Amendment to the BOR's by state would in essence allowing states to place
restrictions on any of the other Amendments,
2) It would be like having a PA. motor cycle drivers license where you are not required to wear a helmet and
being permitted to ride your motor cycle in NY BUT required to wear a helmet. So if you have a CCW for PA,
you can use it legally in NY but be restricted to NY law concerning "legal" weapons and or other restrictions
    like round count. and
3) The “dormant” commerce clause, Article I, Section 8, US Constitution.

I am on board!

Its early here so I may not have read your post clearly

Are you saying you support the NR bill because when we CCW across state lines we will need to follow the new states gun laws same as motorcycle drivers? For example going into NJ or NY it is a felony to have in possession high capacity magazines

Yes, but not as much as a phone call.  And a handwritten letter is pure gold.  Whichever takes more effort on your part is more persuasive on the other end.  Get a simple postcard.  Short note on it will be sterling silver.

More info gents.  Make those calls, be specific.  Support the one, fight the other.  Let them know this is a support killer vote you will be watching.
