I'm just learning about gun laws but the "Castle Doctrine", "Stand Your Ground" philosophy, and "Alter-Ego" rule is some pretty cool stuff.  Thumbs up SC!!

Hell yea.  Gotta love my response to the "if my pants are on I carry" comment.

You don't carry when your pants are off?  Get a shoulder holster!

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure Castle Doctrine only applies to your home, but then again your vehicle is considered an extension of your home...

I wonder if they took the guy's gun away. I hear rumors around my neck of the woods that when you shoot someone in self defense, EVEN IF THERE ARE NO CHARGES ON YOU AND IT IS LEGITIMATE SELF DEFENSE, they take your gun for evidence in their investigation... which is normal and acceptable, but I hear that here in Louisiana, it's extremely rare for someone to actually get their gun back... ever. I can't back that up with facts though, just hearsay.

one of my dads buddies that he was deployed with in iraq works security in NV and shot some dude, it took him like 4.5 months to get that gun back. im sure they will take that gun anywhere in the US...

If your a member of the NRA and your "legal" when something like that happens, they have a legal department that will aid you with getting your weapon returned.

It depends on the state and how the law is written. In PA. The Castle Doctrine law means anywhere you are not just your house. In RI it is just your property, inside or outside your house. In MA. it only means in your house.

For the most part, I never leave home without "being hot."
