Dock Strike
« on: October 01, 2024, 05:42:52 AM »
It started?Day One of Strike.

I topped off preps last weekend, but keep thinking about other items that might be good to pick up. Windshield wipers came to mind this morning.

Thank you DF!

I was just getting ready to post the following however, DF beat me to it.

Let's start a list here of things to buy within the next 7-days that we could run out of if this strike goes past 14-days. This might be a self inflicted October Surprise implemented by the White House.

Okay my first cut of a list...

Anything from China or Asia in general.

> Socks,
> Underwear,
> Over The Counter meds,
> Prescription meds
> Winter clothes if needed,
> Beef, most comes from outside the USA,
> Batteries (D, C, AA, AAA, 9Volt, 3V 123, etc)
> Cat/dog food,
> Building supplies,
> Other?

Okay, I started the lists, please add to my list UP subscribers.

My wife is a nurse, so I think about :

- Bandages.
- Sanitizers
- Personal protective equipment ( PPE )
     Gloves
     Gowns
     booties
- Needles & syringes
- Wipes (medical)
- Meds of all kinds ( China and India...)
- COFFEE !

Nurses run on coffee and heart.

Folks are taking the possibility of supply chain shortages seriously here in middle Tennessee.  The grocery stores, Lowes, and farm stores are all full of shoppers. My wife chatted with one of the cashiers at one local grocery store, and the cashier reported that they have been swamped all day, with the same situation at our local Lowes. The parking lots look like it?s the weekend before Christmas. Biden/Harris haven?t thought through the long term implications. I guess if you have anything you need to stock up on, you better get it soon.

Johny, to add to your list:
Screws/nails
Extra wood/plywood
Roofing materials
Plumbing repair items
Electrical repair items, i.e., circuit breakers
Fencing
Spare oil filters/air filters
Ziplock bags
Garbage bags

I've already stocked up on most of those items. The one thing that I have recently really stocked up on is Toilet Paper and Paper Towels. As far as the toiletries like Body Wash and Shampoo goes, I've loaded up so much of that stuff, I'll be able to use it as trade items. I can't begin to tell you how much over the counter meds I have stocked up. Its waaaayyyy more than I'll ever need. However, somebody else might be in dire need of some of that stuff. For instance, I bought 10 of those small containers of CARMEX lip balm that people like to use for cold sores and cracked lips.

Some great lists. Thank you.

Let's also start a list of OTC meds/supplies that we might need. Sir John has started a good list. Let's add to it keeping the cold/flu season in mind. Let 'er rip.

Bwahahah... Felix. If you've never wiped your butt on a corncob, then you've never lived on a farm. As a kid, I remember being too far from the johnny house to make it in time and had to grab a corncob from the Barn and make do with it. It's not fun but it works. :lmfao:

Strike suspended until _AFTER_ Trump is sworn in (assuming they don't succeed in assassinating him before then)

Clearly, if the current cabal isn't able to cheat their way across the finish line successfully, they intend a "scorched earth" game - with it ALL being "Trump's fault" of course.

In the coming days of budget deficit, I vote to skip the expensive "imprisonment" part of punishing those who clearly wish to "break/overload the system".

The entire south east coast is wiped out from the storm, which means the majority of the voting locations and equipment are gone, how will that affect the election???
