Looks like some bad weather is coming North Carolina north.

We are possibly looking at about 30mph winds and around an inch of rain between about 0300 and 1800 tomorrow.

Could be patchy and I am 10 miles west of 29, which is figured to be pretty much the best assessment line.  The farther east you go he heavier the weather is anticipated.

Not real worried.

We are expecting 2-3" of rain up here. The ground is already saturated from the wet August & September. We expect our electric to go out not because of high winds but due to the already water logged grounds and dead ash trees along our electrical lines. Any breeze over 20 mph to a water logged ground pushes those dead trees right over.

We have lost all of our ash trees to the Emerald Ash Borer (https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/resources/pests-diseases/hungry-pests/the-threat/emerald-ash-borer/emerald-ash-borer-beetle). Another invasion from Asia.

Phone Alert just went off , here along the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.  The warning was for storm surge. We shall see.  Our little cottage foundation is 12 feet above mean sea level.  I don't know how that translates to Nice Sea Level...

Ps.  <y Norwegian pram is standing-by, and I could go for a Jolly Good sail. Tis been a while since I've pillaged a village.

I just looked at the weather map and that is a huge rainstorm. From what I can tell, it should be raining here at my house in about 2 hours. At the moment, it's just cool outside and there is about a 15 mph breeze.

Mean Sea Level, as in Arithmatic Mean, as in Average, as in what to expect on any ordinary day.

Any numbers on anticipated storm surge?  Subtract that from 12 and you have a pretty good idea of your clearance.

Ophelia is just a major nuisance. Heavy rain/Light rain. Gusty winds, up to about 30 MPH. The wind blew my Sundial off its pedestal. Its not very noticeable unless you go outside and then it becomes very noticeable.

Basically calm, little overcast and very light sprinkles of rain, where I am near the Chesapeake Bay where it meets the Potomac River.  The winds dropped to almost zero, 6 hours ago.  The eye is right at the Va/NC border and so far, looking fine here.

Not as much rain as anticipated, wind less than predicted also.  Just cool, grey, moist day.  Noting of significance.

Yesterday just a few sprinkles. Got a bit of work done outside.

About an hour ago it has been coming down like a cow pissing on a flat rock. Went under my main porch to get a few dri logs from last year to build a fire and all my chickens were there. They had a rather annoyed look about them and made room for me to sit with them if I chose. I did not.  ;)

Anyway, good day to sit back and relax with a book and maybe a football game on in the background.

Having a eye round from our latest half a steer for Sunday dinner. Do I make mash potatoes or do oven roasted potatoes?
Turnips or broccoli for a vegetable? That is the question. Oh I wish all decisions in life could be this easy.

Glad to read all of the UP clan down south is doing well.

Peace Brothers & Sisters!

Woke up this morning to a bit of sunlight coming in the window.  Partly cloudy and 72 out there.  Bit of rain overnight but nothing significant.

First full day of Autumn.  Comfortable day.

It was a beautiful day, here in middle TN.  It got down to 51 here last night, and mid 70's today.  We could actually use some rain, as the garden is getting dry.
