Johny, that software/SDR system is interesting.  And that's why the patriots need to have EMP capabilities to be used against the Opfor.   There's nothing like leveling the playing field.  And when the Opfor depends heavily upon electronic surveillance, remove that capability and they're deaf and blind.  In any case, humanint will end up the most important; the difficulty will be distributing that information.

In theory, I have to agree about having some kind of EMP system to take out the other guys coms. The problem with EMP's is that they also take out your own coms. Its a bit like defending yourself from being captured using a hand grenade.  :dancingGrenade: You also get blown up. There actually is a workaround though. Radio receivers have a detector diode that strips the RF signal and leaves the audio signal. If you can get close enough to the other guys antenna system, you can transmit a couple of thousand watts on the frequency they are using and it will blow out the very sensitive Detector Diode. :cowboy: They can still transmit but they are deaf. Now, if you can directly connect into their coax system, you can render their receiver deaf with only a few watts. The danger is you don't want to be connecting at a time when they are transmitting unless you like RF burns.  Then there's the old needle through the coax thing that will short the transmitter out when they transmit. The problem with that is that their radios probably have an SWR protection circuit that drops the transmitted power down when the SWR is too high. :pissed: Then there is always the old completely cut their coax system. They'll be down until they can find the cut and install a barrel connector and two Connectors. Then there's the tricky one where you create a "Suckout". You squeeze the coax hard enough to make the center conductor almost touch the shield. When the RF gets to the squeezed area, the signal gets sucked out to the shield and hardly any of the signal reaches the antenna. The Suckout also causes a really bad SWR problem that an antenna tuner can't fix. I've never done any of these things but I once heard a guy talk about it. :lmfao: :lmfao:

@Pkveazey
i've always been fond of a tuned spark gap.
12 vdc battery, to an old fashioned coil (from a car or truck) to a sparkplug in a tin-can.
attach the can to an antenna tuned to your favorite frequency or even use a directional antenna.
if you rig 3 or 4 omni's offset by a few hundred yards - the system interferance will mess up the 0pf0r int3rfer0metery (read, they will have a hard time finding the emitters).  the antenna is your filter - 1/4 wave at close range works.  so 2 coat hangers in a boxkite config works. the white noise off the sparkplug is your RF source.  if your math is good, calibrate the can and skip the antenna.  I saw one op where someone attached the output to a perimeter fence  >:D using a nearby power point on a light pole - into a 14VDC inverter.  the EW guys finally cried uncle and asked the red team what they had done - i was sitting in on the AR.  :lmfao:

one other 'cute' trick - if you can get close enough to mess with their coax - put your 'noise maker' mentioned above near their generator earth ground and leave.  The noise floor on their AC powered gear or gear plugged into an inverter will loose them 30+dB of sensitivity.  the trick is to mess with the earth ground - it leaks into the ground plane on the receivers.  Most rigs RF filters are on the input side.  :) ask anyone who has used RF gear with a generator and forgotten to double check their earth ground.  this won't blind high end gear but mobile gear is very susceptible to this when using shore power.

For what it is worth, I agree 100% with Johnny. If you are going you better have PERSEC and OPSEC squared away
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Also, here is some more info (IMO, open carrying is stupid anyways, particularly with a long gun, but they specifically do not want you to show up like that).

Quote

Monday, January 20, is Virginia Citizens Defense League's Lobby Day. It is not VCDL's Protest Day.

There is a distinct difference between the two.

Lobby Day is about, well, lobbying – sending a message to the General Assembly and to the Governor, Attorney General, and the Lt. Governor. That message is simple: no more gun control that in any way, shape, or form negatively affects law-abiding gun owners. Bills that go after criminals or bills that are beneficial to gun owners are fine.

While there have been some verbal threats by the Democrat leadership to push major gun control down the throats of Virginia's gun owners and some very bad bills already filed to back up that threat, NOTHING has happened yet and won't until after January 8th 2020. And perhaps it won't happen at all if we press hard enough.

The second amendment sanctuary movement, with its absolutely massive turnouts of gun owners, is sending a deafening message to lawmakers ahead of Lobby Day. On top of that, we now believe the size of the crowd on Lobby Day could be absolutely incredible, possibly historic if gun owners from around the state follow through and attend as we believe they will. You will absolutely want to be a part of this!

Militias

Various militia groups from Virginia and nearby states have graciously volunteered to provide security. With a large Capitol, Richmond, and State police presence, not to mention enough citizens armed with handguns to take over a modern mid-sized country, we have the security base covered nicely. That said, we welcome our militia brothers and sisters to be part of making the day a success! Some militia groups are looking to take canned food donations during Lobby Day and deliver them to a Richmond Food Bank. Please contribute.

Long Guns

If you are asking how you can help with VCDL's mission, carrying long guns at Lobby Day is not helpful – it is a distraction. Virginia Citizens Defense League's important messages inevitably get lost as the press rushes to get pictures of anyone carrying an AR or AK. The stories then become about the rifle, not Virginia Citizens Defense League's agenda. You can set your watch by it. Long guns are not easy to carry in a crowd, either. VCDL needs its voice heard loud and clear in order to able to stop the onslaught of gun-control bills.

Laws you need to know for carry in Richmond

You can't have a magazine in a centerfire rifle or pistol that holds more than 20 rounds unless you have a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP). You must also have a Virginia CHP if the centerfire rifle or pistol has a threaded barrel or a folding stock. Click here to see the code section, which also covers similar restrictions on shotguns: 18.2-287.4

Open carry without a CHP is legal in Virginia, but watch the restrictions in the previous paragraph.

You need a CHP to carry in the General Assembly or Capitol Building. Once through security, you can carry openly or concealed in the buildings. You cannot carry in the gallery over the Senator Floor. Keep an eye on these alerts. Should any of this change, we will notify you here.
Virginia Citizens Defense League Lobby Day is a peaceful event about gun rights and NOTHING ELSE

We are NOT there to have arguments with the other side. They lobby, we lobby, and never the two shall meet. Just ignore them.

And we are not there to push any other agenda. Our total focus is on protecting our right to keep and bear arms. Period. This is not about flags, statues, history, etc. Just guns.

If you somehow find yourself being harassed by the other side, don't engage them. They could well be baiting you and recording what you do for propaganda purposes. If necessary, go find a police officer and let them take care of the person causing the disturbance. Otherwise, just ignore them and go about your business.

VCDL has a great relationship with the Capitol Police, the Richmond Police, the Virginia State Police, and most other law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth. We welcome their presence and are glad they are there to keep everything peaceful, while we work on the job at hand.

This should be a great event, with freedom-loving Americans from all walks of life standing should-to-should to protect our most precious civil right – the right of self-defense. See you there!

I have mentioned the Lobby Day going on in Richmond on 20 Jan 20.  Seems the opposition has taken notice of the 2A Sanctuary movement starting here.

From the early indications on the size of the turnout I have paid attention to I suspect we will make a couple network reports. And likely not just cable news.

But we have made the gun control Big Time. Big enough someone seems to think we might be more than deplorable.

You really MUST be there if you vote in Va.

This ongoing Gun Control thing is something to keep a close eye on. From the moment I saw what our Gov. was trying to get, I realized that he was asking for the world and everything in it so when the public cried FOUL, he could fall back to getting as much of it as possible even though he knew that there was no way he would get it all. From my side of the fence, I don't want him to get ANY of what he is asking for. This creeping gun control will eventually get them what they want if we don't stop them on every item. Don't be fooled when they back off a bit and call it a compromise. Its not a compromise, its exactly what they set out to do.

I worked a recruiting table at a Gun Show in Salem Va today.  Small show that was held in a 6800 seat civic center.  Couple hundred tables at best.

We signed up 119 new members between 9:30am and 4:30pm.

Seems some people deciding to get a bit politically active.

Some politicians might begin to think a bit. Be sure to keep an eye on the news in Jan 20.

I wonder if any Virginian patriot group will be using HF on that Lobby Day.  It would be good to be able to communicate if the government forces stir the pot, and shut down both cellphone and internet communications.

I can't imagine the State Government interfering with anything that is controlled and regulated by the FCC. I don't think HF Ham radio will even be needed. 2 Meter repeaters should be up and running. The State stepping on my toes is one thing but the State  stepping on the Federal Governments toes is altogether another thing. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of Hams at the Capital and keeping everyone informed of what's going on.

Never underestimate the enemy.  It's best to be prepared for every imaginable possibility.  The State government is preparing to interfere with Constitutional rights, and they've already discussed turning off the power and communications in sanctuary areas.  Why would they hesitate on turning off communications while they instigate a dark swan event? It's pretty easy to interfere with an amateur repeater or jam them, but it's a little more difficult to jam HF signals, due to the frequencies and power available.  An HF mobile station could prove to be a real asset.  I'm sure some of the attending groups have already made the necessary preparations, especially if they have any ex-military comm guys.
