Title: Your Type of Music
Post by: Burt Gummer on February 26, 2014, 08:16:22 PM
I didn't see a good music thread maybe it's buried.
So let's start one.

Liberty / prepping / guns
you know the deal.  :dancingGrenade:

K.S. Rhoads - Harvest

http://youtu.be/5ssEMxjgUkE (http://youtu.be/5ssEMxjgUkE)

You're out on a mission
You're gonna settle a score
You got trigger happy
But you don't know who you're gunning for

There's too many fingerprints
You don't know who to blame
Only you got a bullet
And that bullet's got a name

There are those who are guilty
And they will never get caught
They reign on the justice that can be bought

They steal from the old woman
to put the young man into war
Keep the people busy fighting
And they'll forget what they were fighting for

The harvest is coming
Oh, you know that
The harvest is coming

Now is the mission dog hour
To bite the masters hand
They hold on to the power
As long as we don't understand

But there will come a reaping
When the weed is burned
For right know they have a seat at a table
But the table will be overturned

Because the harvest is coming
Oh, the harvest is coming
The harvest is coming.

Well here you go then.
ICED EARTH - Dystopia (OFFICIAL VIDEO) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuwW9IVwZ0U#ws) Note the Gadsden Axe

Oh and Nemo the last time I hear that song was when I was rolling around in gravel, cutting up my palms by doing "Up - Down - Go" drills as my sergeant practiced the use of his vocal cords because his 350lbs+ wife wasn't giving him any.

OK I will play.
Jefferson Airplane - Volunteers (With Lirics) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7Wmf71BSAM#)
Oldie but goodie. Just replace the flags with Gadsden ones and the signs being held by protesters to read: "Throw All the bums out!"

MrsMac and I saw the Jefferson Starship about 18 months ago or so in a 200 seat venue. Paul Kantner would talk between sets pure Liberalism and Constitutionalism. He has certainly changed his strips. "If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain." Winston Churchill   :lmfao:

Clutch - Burning Beard. 720p HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtdYQLr9cpE#ws)

Quote
Everyday I wake up
We drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Everyday I wake up
To a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in

Lobster backs attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite

Every time I look out my window
The same three dogs lookin' back at me
Every time I open my windows
Cranes fly in to terrorize me

The power of the holy ghost
(Woof, woof, woof)
The power of the holy ghost
(Results)

Shadow of the new praetorian
Tipping cows in fields Elysian
Saturnalia for all you have
The seven habits of the highly infected calf

Swan diving off the tongues of crippled giants
International Business Machine
Choking on bits of falling bread crumbs

Oh this burning beard, I have come undone
Oh this burning beard, I have come undone
It's just as I feared,
I have come undone

Bugger, bugger, bugger
Down the last of academe
Occam's razor makes the cutting clean
Shaven like a banker, lilac Vegetal
Break the glass ceiling and golden parachute on down

The power of the holy ghost comes to town
Remove the shadow of the new praetorian
Tipping cows in fields Elysian
Saturnalia for all you have

The seven habits of the highly infected calf
The seven habits of the highly infected calf

Down the last of academe (http://thesaurus.com/browse/academe)
Occam's razor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor) makes the cutting clean

That song is great, the lyrics are so weird but they do make a little sence.
Translate: screw the academia, use your common sense and it will unravel their BS.

I think you guy's will like this song.

Quote
Stand tall for the beast of America.
Lay down like a naked dead body,
keep it real for the people workin' overtime,
they can't stay living off the governments dime.

Stand tall for the people of America.
Stand tall for the man next door,
we are free in the land of America,
we ain't goin' down like this.

I will be right to you,
I will be right to you,
I will be right to you,
and together we can stand up to the beast.
You see…Suppression is a m*thxr f*cken prison
So I hand you the key to your cell,
you've got to love you neighbor,
love your neighbor.
And let your neighbor, love you back.

I think this one might be a crowd pleaser here....

http://youtu.be/Ovpxo0Q3CLQ (http://youtu.be/Ovpxo0Q3CLQ)

Once an honest man could go from sunrise to its set
without encountering agents of his State or government.

But a sorry cloud of tyranny has fallen across the land,
brought on by the hollow men (http://tinyurl.com/mzqmkrr),
who did not understand that for centuries our forefathers have fought
and often died to keep themselves unto themselves, to fight the rising tide,
and that if in the smallest battles we surrender to the State,
we enter in a darkness whence we never shall escape.

Watt Tyler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wat_Tyler) led the people in 1381 to meet the king at Smithfield
and issue this demand:
that Winchester’s should be the only law across the land,
the law of old King Alfred’s time, of free and honest men.
Because the people then they understood what we have since forgot:
that governments will only work for their own benefit (http://tinyurl.com/l5dnkks).

And I’d rather stand up naked against the elements alone
than give the hollow men (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hollow_Men) the right to enter in my home.
When they raise their hands up our lives to possess,
to know our souls, to drag us down, we’ll resist.
Stand up sons of liberty and fight for what you own.
Stand up sons of liberty and fight, fight for your homes.

So if ever a man should ask you for your business, or your name,
tell him to go and fuck himself, tell his friends to do the same.
Because a man who’d trade his liberty for a safe and dreamless sleep
doesn’t deserve the both of them, and neither shall he keep.

"Because a man who’d trade his liberty for a safe and dreamless sleep
doesn’t deserve the both of them, and neither shall he keep."

Sounds a bit like: "They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Ben Franklin.

Holy shit APX heard that song on my way to work today/yesterday, been humming it all night long.
Can't say I understand the Mad Max / Ghost Recon / New Vegas video but girls looked good and there was enough skin for me to satisfied.  ;D

And Crudo's that Icelandic song is awesome.
The beginning is very reminiscent of Calexico's music. You might like it.

I've been a fan of everything from thrash to folk.
I like Leslie Fish - especially an release called 'Firestorm: Songs of the Third World War'
here is my favorite - the Digwell Carol
-

It is the time of Digwell, now Summer's gone away.
People come from miles around to meet on Digwell day.
We all come here with mighty stones, with gravel, rocks, and sand,
Bring it here with oxcarts or with buckets in your hand.

 Chorus:
Pile high, pile high, the devil's underground.
Pile high, pile high, keep the devil down.

And bring you all your blighted crops and blighted beasts beside,
And coffins of this season's dead that of the blight have died.
Bring them to the mountain's top and fetch the boulders near,
'Tis fitting that the blighted dead should all be buried here.

So fetch the boulders, sand, and stones, and pile them deeply here.
We bury now the sorrows, sins, and bad luck of the year,
And when the mountain's higher by the mound we build today,
Then we shall feast and dance and sing this autumn night away.

For back in our forefathers' time, the devils ruled this land.
They made cruel wars and laws to rule the folks on every hand.
They spoiled the land and water, and they poisoned half the sky.
They cared for nothing but their power, though man and nature die.

In time the danger grew so fierce it threatened them as well,
And so they dug deep in the Earth and hid them safe in Hell.
They hoped to wait in comfort 'till the poisons wore away,
For then they could come out again and rule another day.

They hid themselves below the ground and left the people here,
Amid the blight that they had made and even they must fear,
But still the people stayed alive, and well they promised then
That all the devils hid in Hell would never rule again.

And so our fathers hunted 'til they found the secret gate,
And there they piled the boulders high above where devils wait,
And thus we've ever after done these many years and more,
So now our manmade mountain stands above their exit door.

Pile high, pile high, the devil's underground, oh,
Pile high, pile high, keep the devil down

Same thing on his site: http://corblund.com/media/gettin-down-on-the-mountain/ (http://corblund.com/media/gettin-down-on-the-mountain/)

When the oil stops, everything stops, nothing left in the fountain
Nobody wants paper money son, so you just well stop countin'
Can you break the horse, can you light the fire, what's that I beg your pardon
You best start thinking where food comes from and I hope you tend a good garden

Getting down on the mountain, getting down on the mountain
Dont wanna be around when the shit goes down
I'll be gettin on down the mountain

When the truck dont run, the bread dont come , have a hard time finding petrol
Water aint runnin in the city no more do hold any precious metal
Can you gut the fish, can you read the sky, whats that about over crowdin'
You ever seen a man who's kids aint ate for 17 days and countin'

Getting down on the mountain, getting down on the moutain
Don't wanna be around when the shit goes down
I'll be gettin' on down the mountain
solo
There aint no heat and the powers gone out, It's kerosene lamps and candles
The roads are blocked its all grid locked, you got a short wave handle
Can you track the dear , can you dig the well, couldn't quite hear your answer
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, brother can you spare some ammo

Getting down on the mountain, getting down on the moutain
Don't wanna be around when the shit goes down
Gettin on down the mountain
Solo
When the oil stops, everything stops, nothing left in the fountain
Nobody wants paper money son, so you just well stop countin'
Can you break the horse, can you light the fire, whats that I beg your pardon
I think I see a rip in the social fabric; brother can you pass the ammo

Getting down on the mountain, getting down on the mountain
Dont wanna be around when the shit goes down
Gettin on down the mountain x2

I can trace my entire love of comedy to watching Monty Python as a kid and reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It taught me that those awkward unscripted moments with strangers is the what makes life worth living (or at least bearable). And it only happens with those we don't know, because you and him/her don't know how they are "supposed" to act. They become like an actor without line. Off scrip anything can happen.

True story.... About ten years back, while on a liquid diet (http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server4600/57a31/products/10642/images/84114/JnBscotchNew175__50915.1353106595.1280.1280.jpg) binge, I roasted 2 different stereo amps (back to back) with this one:

Drink To The Dead - Clutch (Lyrics in the Description) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7whD9f7l_lQ#)

"Drink to the Dead" ~ Clutch

Quote
If knee-deep in cat nip
At the old icebox
I recommend you whistle
And give the box three knocks
Should you be so lucky
To hear whisperin'
It is an invitation
For you to leap in

May you go marching in three measure time
Dressed up as asses, drunk to the nines
Swing from the rafters
Shouting those songs
Gone unsung for far too long

If boxing your shadow
At the wall full of moss
And antlers approach you
Then I am at a loss

May you go marching in three measure time
Dressed up as asses, drunk to the nines
Swing from the rafters
Shouting those songs
Gone unsung for far too long

Drink to the dead all you still alive
We shall join them in good time
Should you go crossin' that silvery brook
It's best to leap before you look

Surrounded by toadstools
At the old green glen
I'm afraid there is little
That I can recommend
Save all of your courage
And sincere prayer
And where you go-a treadin'
Take the utmost care

So let us
Drink to the dead all you still alive
We shall join them in good time
Should you go crossin' that silvery brook
It's best to leap before you look

They remind me of Renaissance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B578LuXbPI#).

Where do these folks hail from? You don't see kilts being worn often in the USofA except at my family holidays, wedding's and funerals.

I've got a song for you fella's they'll have you nodding your head.

It speaks to me on a personal level.
http://youtu.be/Quus1kcrbPk (http://youtu.be/Quus1kcrbPk)
Leonard Cohen - Almost Like the Blues

I saw some people starving
There was murder, there was rape
Their villages were burning
They were trying to escape
I couldn’t meet their glances
I was staring at my shoes
It was acid, it was tragic
It was almost like the blues

I have to die a little
Between each murderous thought
And when I’m finished thinking
I have to die a lot
There’s torture and there’s killing
And there’s all my bad reviews
The war, the children missing
Lord, it’s almost like the blues

So I let my heart get frozen
To keep away the rot
My father said I’m chosen
My mother said I’m not
I listened to their story
Of the Gypsies and the Jews
It was good, it wasn’t boring
It was almost like the blues

There is no G-d in Heaven
And there is no Hell below
So says the great professor
Of all there is to know
But I’ve had the invitation
That a sinner can’t refuse
And it’s almost like salvation
It’s almost like the blues

Now here's a song marketed to our demographic...  :dancingGrenade:

Aloe Blacc - Ticking Bomb
http://youtu.be/eS76q7nfU_Y (http://youtu.be/eS76q7nfU_Y)

[Chorus:]
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
So keep your calm and carry on
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb

[Verse 1:]
The sun may never rise again
The question ain’t if but when
The see will boil and the sky will fall
The sun may never rise again

The silent war has begun
We’re staring down a loaded gun
No refuge found on solid ground
This human race can’t be won

[Chorus:]
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
So keep your calm and carry on
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb

And it’s about to explode

(The whole world) [x4]

[Verse 2:]
They’re reaching in my pockets again
The ice we’re standing on is thin
Making plans with greedy hands
They’re reaching in my pockets again

The future is a dying art
Laying in a ditch in the dark
I need you here but all I hear (is)
The beating of a broken heart

[Pre-Chorus:]
Don’t wait to say goodbye
You’re running out of time
Whatever you believe
It’s easy to see

[Chorus:]
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
So keep your calm and carry on
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb

And it’s about to explode [x2]
(The whole world)
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
And it don’t care what side you’re on
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb
So keep your calm and carry on
The whole world’s sitting on a ticking bomb

On another note: Why do people wear their ball caps on backwards? The benefit of the bill is to keep the sun out of your eyes. How does the bill keep the sun out of your eyes when facing rearwards.  :what:

When I was a kid my dad would always be a smartass and ask people where they bought their hats with bills on the back.
I still do it. Haha. I can't stand watching people put a perfectly good hat on backwards.

 @ Burt :lmfao:

MrsMac and I were out at breakfast this morning. A group of young lads walked in and sat down at a table next to us. One of the guys had a newsboy cap (Not ball cap) on backwards.  ::)

Our breakfast came and the one with the cap said to his friends but loud enough for most of the folks in the restaurant to hear, "gee look at all of that food they ordered. I hope there is some left in the kitchen for us." I smiled.

Once we were done I went up to pay the bill and on the way back to our table I looked at the guy with the on backwards newsboy cap and asked, "Where do you buy a hat like that...One that you wear backwards?"

Well the nitwits friends at the table exploded with laughter along with some folks at other tables and our waitress. He promptly turned beet red.

Smiled, put on our jackets and we left the restaurant.

Thanks RS762 for your father line. ;-)

Nuff Said.

Nemo

I saw the light fade from the sky
On the wind I heard a sigh
As the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers
I will say this last goodbye

    Night is now falling
    So ends this day
    The road is now calling
    And I must away
    Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

    Under cloud, beneath the stars
    Over snow one winter’s morn
I turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
    I cannot tell
    We came all this way
    But now comes the day
    To bid you farewell
    Many places I have been
    Many sorrows I have seen
    But I don’t regret
    Nor will I forget
All who took the road with me

    Night is now falling
    So ends this day
    The road is now calling
    And I must away
    Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
    I cannot tell
    We came all this way
    But now comes the day
    To bid you farewell

I bid you all a very fond farewell.

There was a club called the Fire House located in Ballard we use to go to. The bands who mostly played there was Grunge and occasionally Punk. When the Cherry Poppin Daddies played there the place would always be sold out and there would be a mob of folks in front of the place listening to the music coming through the windows.

In this YT vid they are tame. In person they were not!
