Title: The Last Ship
Post by: crudos on May 20, 2014, 07:40:00 PM
Could be interesting. With Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan (Grey's Anatomy) as the captain of the last ship, how can humanity lose?  :what:

"Their mission is simple: Find a cure. Stop the virus. Save the world. When a global pandemic wipes out eighty-percent of the of the planet's population, the crew of a lone naval destroyer must find a way to pull humanity from the brink of extinction. Michael Bay presents The Last Ship on TNT, coming June 22."

Interesting premise.  I am interested to see what the show will be like, but I bet you money that like so many other disaster/population drop shows they won't really change the social paradigm at all and they'll still have a bad guy to fight.  Walking Dead lost me in season 2 and Revolution at episode 1 because the disaster was barely a backdrop.

I'll give it a chance, although Michael Bay sucks

I smell an oppertunity for some navy recruitment advertizing / propaganda.

Hey, this first season is on Hulu Plus, or whatever the pay per month version is called. Not sure if on free version. Decent first episode, interesting enough premise.

I watched the first three episodes this week. The first episode or two, I was constantly and verbally exasperated with the characters, who constantly muzzled each other as they went about with their weapons. I thought, "Well, maintaining an accurate depiction is, again, apparently not the goal here." Then they institute a training day where an officer yells at a sailor for muzzling his buddy. I was like.  :fuckYeah:

I don't expect movies or shows to be perfect in regards to weapons handling (it's not perfect IRL in combat, either). However, I do expect a good faith effort to show responsible weapons operation. If The Last Ship continues doing it the right way, I'm hooked.

Plus, Rhona Mitra is hotter than hell, with an exotic accent to boot.

Watched it last night. MrsMac liked it and I didn't.

A bit hookie if you ask me. I will stay with it until my wife moves on to other things.
