Roku or maybe J-Mac is a Tech-ie
« on: October 15, 2011, 09:56:47 AM »
O-Kay, several of you folks know me, so you know I am not a computer guy.

I signed up for Glenn Beck's GBTV this past August and I have only been successful watching his show 5 or 6 times. Beck's folks have been very patient with me and I do appreciate their help.

One of the tech support folks for GBTV asked if I had a Roku. I told her, "wait a minute as I have to drop my pants to see." She laughed and then told me all about a Roku and how you can order movies from Amazon, Netflix, etc and have them down load direct to your TV. She also explained that GBTV can be down loaded using a Roku.

Well being the cheap bastard that I am I wasn't going to spend $60 on no stinken Roku as I had a perfectly good 2005 IBM laptop!

My wife came home Thursday all upset because our favorite video/DVD rental place was closing. Apparently people are using Nexflix and the Red Box and he just couldn't compete. knowing that by the end of the month there would be no more Briggs video I succumbed to shelling out $$$ for a Roku.

Now I hate setting any new electronic gadget up because half the time I don't know what they are taking about in the directions. BUT I have to say that setting up my newly purchased piece of equipment was a snap. From boxed to totally functional was completed within 20 minutes. I was totally STOKED!

Check them out if you dare.....

PS: I watched GB last evening without a hitch.  Sorry Burt  :)) :)) :))

I got one for my father for Father's Day this past year.  He loves it.
