Title: From Conservative to Anarchist
Post by: Kentactic on January 12, 2016, 09:36:41 PM
I was once a conservative. It took me a couple of years to face the little voice in my head telling me I'm contradicting myself a lot.

I can relate completley. I always knew I was an anarchist. In high school I was lucky enough to have a very pro market economics teacher. At the beginning of the class I was in support of a minimum wage but by the end of it I was full fledged capitalist.

I always had an edge over my other classmates in my ability to quickly grasp concepts. I just "got" the free market and I ran with it. But unlike my other classmates and teacher, I took the concept of the free market to its logical end; If less central planning is better, then no central planning is best. If the government that governs best is the one that governs least, then the best government is the one that doesn't govern at all.

But did I call myself an anarchist then? No.

You see, societey taught me that I was young and had no idea what I was talking about. I was just going through a 'phase'. I was just a rebel. A young idealistic fool. And so, after my critical thinking skills were suitably crushed, I became the next best thing: Libertarian.

It wasn't until I found the internet that I found others like me. I discovered I wasn't alone. There were others around me out of the matrix with the ability to see things in terms of reality and not just fancy words that justify immorality. Example: Governments are abstract concepts. What is 'real' are people with guns who take your money.

So damn right Kentactic. Fuck uncomfortable thanksgiving dinner conversations. And fuck going along to get along. I'm not going back in the matrix. We will firmly plant our flags in truth and we will not be moved unless convinced by reason and evidence.

Good stuff. My flag is as firmly planted as the arguments it is based on. Maybe one day my flag is uprooted swiftly with one single argument. Matter of fact I can already do so myself. But that takes us down the dangerous yet awesome road of "we know nothing". My Flag relies on premises. Premises that most humans accept but nevertheless premises rather than axioms. Premises not even based on axioms. Rothbard even kind of just tosses the premise of self ownership in. He does not show how it follows from the human action axiom. But I digress...

Anarchism is about as logically sound as it gets in the political philosophy world.

I'm a Christian Voluntaryist/Anarchist, not as weird as you would think.

Not weird, I agree.  It goes just a bit past that marker point.
