Just finished reading it. I almost always read history books but you guys said it was a good read. Well It was exciting and fast paced right to the end. I have one complaint though. At times he doesn't tell you how they went from one place to the other. It just starts in a new paragraph.
I enjoyed it enough that moments ago I ordered "Peoples Republic". Got to see the end.

I believe you'll enjoy "People's Republic". I'm hoping that Schlicter will come out with another novel during this coming year.
-
I finished Peoples Republic that and Indian Country are great reads but should have been one book.
Speaking of books I just found my lost copy of "Senatorial Privilege The Chappaquiddick cover up" By Leo Damore. Have any of you read it. I bought my copy at an estate sale 11yrs ago. What a dirt bag Ted Kennedy was.
Amazon has them for $1.99.
I guess now that Ted is dead it is easier to get.

"Peoples Republic" was written first as a stand alone novel. Because of the popularity of the character and the background, Schlicter wrote "Indian Country". I guess if they both sell well; he'll make it into a series. It seems that modern authors rarely write stand alone novels anymore, they've all gone the trilogy or series route. I'm guessing it's mostly for financial reasons.

I just picked up both for my trip. Which one should I reed first?
-
INDIAN COUNTRY that way you will understand why he is so aggressive.

I concur with Jojo, because it sets up the scenario for "People's Republic." I hope you enjoy the humor in the stories. And some of the pronouns in the novels came up at work today, and I couldn't help but reflect upon the novels.

Well, I just finished Schlichter's Indian Country. On a 1-5 scale with "5" being exceptional, I would rate the book a "3.5". For you readers who rated it VG or exceptional no offense should be taken. Just different strokes for different folks.
The book is a modern day High Noon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Noon) or Magnificent Seven or Seven Samurai ala modern day warfare and politics. The plot-line is a bit unbelievable.
The United States splits in half. One half is Red States (Conservative) and the other half is Blue States (Progressive). I could see this happening after a civil war maybe - But not by a popular vote, as it apparently happened in the book.
Now, once I got past the plot-line, I enjoyed the book.
I loved Schlichter humor and delivery through the hero of the book, Kelly Turnbell.
Turnbell's personality was a mixture of Pike (Robert Crais), and Hawk & Spencer (Robert Parker). A witty, sarcastic, and pure testosterone character.
Schlichter does a very good job of detailing how a insurgency program is run so, it acts as a good baseline for understanding guerilla tactics - Ala Admiral Yamamoto's superposed statement, "You cannot invade mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass." This quote has not been substantiated but is in essence a true statment.
If you can borrow the book, borrow it...If your library has it, sign it out...If you find it at a used book store, buy it...However, there are better books out there of the same genera that are worth the full price of $15-.
Now I will start on Peoples Republic.

For those readers who may think Schlicter's novel are full of crap regarding how the Left acts and talks, here's a short (less than 4 minutes) video regarding the activities at a recent Democratic Socialist Convention. Check out the references to how pronouns are used. These "people" are freaking insane.
