Title: Hi from Mountains of So California
Post by: underhill on October 19, 2019, 11:34:41 AM
Just thought I'd say hi, I'm currently in the mountains of So Calif, and a ham operator, just looking to learn and share if I have anything worthwhile.

Welcome to the forum. Coms are critical in an emergency and we need all the Radio Operators we can get. There are about a dozen reasons people prep and all are valid. I personally have two reasons, Economic collapse and EMP or Solar Flare Grid Down. All the others are valid and I keep them in mind. I'm heavy into earth science and pay close attention to things like the Yellowstone Super Volcano, the 3 major Earthquake areas (New Madrid Mo., Charleston SC, and San Adreas). It makes no difference which problem rears its ugly head, the consequences will be pretty much the same. I'm not overly concerned about a Pandemic but I have prepared for it. I'm WD4OIM.

Well Underhill, welcome to the other side.

A bunch of great folks here with varying degrees of expertise in preparations and amateur radio. So don't hesitate jumping in if you have an answer to a question or asking your own questions.

Check out the archives too...Some great stuff stored there from over the past eight years.

Welcome,
