Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and thought I would start here by saying hi. I'm from up in the sticks of NY and looking forward to learning a few things.

I just got back from a class with NC Scout and he sent me this way.

Hello wayupnorth, and welcome to he forum, from a former long time resident of the Adirondacks.  Fortunately, I came to my senses and moved south to an area that doesn't have 7 month long winters, and the citizens aren't taxed to death.  Anyways, welcome and I look forward to your comments.

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you've joined us but sad to hear that you are from Taxation Hell. There are folks here that are into everything discussed and some that have more interests in specialized areas. Some of the areas are Hunting, fishing, growing food. Some are into Self protection and tactics. Some are into all manner of survival skills. We all are aware that anything could collapse society so we prepare for Economic collapse, EMP, Civil War, Natural disasters, even foreign invasion or marauders, and others too numerous to mention. A lot of information on Communications, Tactics, Supplies, Medical issues, Survival equipment, Security, etc. is covered. Feel free to initiate a thread on any of the things we discuss.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

My wife and I own a beautiful home that's off-grid on about 50 acres near the Adirondacks but sadly we are scouting around for another state for all the reasons that you already know.

We have been to TN and like it there but it was a little busy, we are planning to scout the Appalachians around KY to see how it feels. But first I have to finish out a couple more years of work and get the kiddos out of school.

NCS told me you might stop by and I am stoked that you registered.

As Pk wrote earlier, we are an eclectic group that are proficient in some area's and lacking in many. The great thing is, one of us is good to go in any question you may have.

If a question comes up that you know the answer to, jump in. If you have a question of your own - Ask it.

The archives goes back to 2011 with a lot of great information there so, please check it out.

Welcome to the group!
I too have made my escape from the state where the Empire strikes back! Spent much of my free time in the Adirondacks, growing up in central and eastern upstate.
Look forward to seeing you toss in your views!
