Title: Hello from "Live Free or Die"
Post by: joepatriot on September 17, 2015, 05:34:10 PM
Hi Everyone,

Just joined.  From New Hampshire (originally from Maine - "The Way Life Should Be").  A newbie in this space, but have been getting more involved and interested.  Just read the book from James Wesley Rawles - Patriots, and just started "How to Survive the End of the World as we know it".  I have not looked at the topics yet, but planning on doing some looking tomorrow and this weekend and learning tons.
My first question is how overwhelming it is thinking about "prepping" for a variety of instances.  My logical thinking is to prep for a month of hardship...then take it to 3, 6, 9, 12 months etc.  So I am going to look for topics to what is most important for a month prep, be thoroughly prepared and then go from there.  Not sure if this is sound logic or not, but I am intend to learn.

I am open to hearing, speaking, learning, etc. from anyone and anytime.....

Regards,
Joe...

Greetings and Salutations Good Sir, Hail and Well Met.  From way down south in the South of Georgia.  Hope we can help you and I am sure you can contribute yourself.   The one thing to remember is the only dumb question is the one unasked.  I have run into many questions that I think I have an answer to, but in the end never really thought or considered.  You note plans that look excellent to begin and just continue.

Glad to have you.

Hey welcome aboard Joe

Prepping is more like a way of life, just take one step at a time and when you notice you'll have gone a lot done.

Welcome to Unchainedpreppers Joepatriot!

New Hampshire is a beautiful country - You are lucky.

As APX wrote, "prepping is a way of life."

IMO, your approach of prepping "in steps" is a great way to tackle eating that elephant. Keep in mind that there is a Bishop House located in Worcester MA. if you would like to buy bulk items like, wheat, rice, powdered milk, salt, etc to add to your preps. Another good place to buy bulk is to find a local restaurant supply house. There are some great deals there too.

There is a great group of folks here at UP. The breath of knowledge, in all area's of discussion is incredible. Not just in prepping but in all aspects of a self-reliant life style.

In closing, don't be hesitant to visit the archives here and then ask questions. Also don't be hesitant to add to the archives with your knowledge and life's experiences.

Welcome

Thanks Everyone for such a warm welcome!  The guns/ammo part I do well with, but the self sustaining food/water part is newer to me, so I am just trying to learn.  Some very good ideas already.  One great thing is that I have a woodstove that I can cook on.  I do already have a generator.  We are on a well that supplies our neighborhood.  Without electricity it won't work, but I believe I know where the well house is and could get water from it as it is an open well, would just need to possibly boil, etc.  Anyhow, the brain is starting to work and think in the right direction, but I don't know what I don't know.

So I'll be reading some archives and hopefully contributing soon.

Regards,
Joe....
