I learned about it through AmRRON and I never really see it talked about anywhere. What I would love to test is if it can somehow be paired with the digital HAm stuff where you can send pictures over the airwaves. I don't think it will, but damn that would be cool.

HAm radio has several packet transmit systems - ergo - can transmit pics.
some can even set up ad-hoc WANs.

Exactly. What I don't know is whether or not the encoded message maintains its integrity or gets corrupted because of data loss
