Title: how do I disable?
Post by: thatGuy on June 27, 2013, 12:14:43 PM
How do I disable this scrolling bullshit of updated posts that appears when I sign in? They won't stop.

The easy way:

Mark all of your "new replies to your post" AND/OR "unread posts since last visit" as read.

I admit, those bubbles can get annoying when you have a stream of them appear every so often.  But they are useful to see new things such as PM's in real time.  My suggestion above will greatly reduce the amount of bubbles.

I don't what to mark threads I haven't read as if I had because I want to read them!

yet I can't read a thing with these boxes laid over the text.

The bubbles always disappear after a few seconds for me... They don't for you?

hey Ken... right back at you bud!

They do at work but on my personal laptop it's a wreck, never quits going and I can't read or post to threads without zooming way out.. like too far to read the text.

@TG
It seems like your laptop isn't behaving.  Try clearing your "forms."  Sometimes when things aren't displaying properly that works form me... especially on YT.

EDIT:  If that don't do it, clear the cache, browsing and download histories.

Fn F5 TG. My laptop was doing the same thing until I refreshed. Now I just get the fast black tiles when I first sign on and then I am good.

This is an issue though and we need to figure out how to fix it. My description above is just a band aide.

You want to disable the topic reply notifications and just keep the new PM notifications?

Well no one replies to this, but as it seems there is more people having issues I just turned it off for topic replies, and just left it for PMs.

Good idea APX. I'm totally fine with it on for pm's.

Thanks for deactivating that, APX!  I'm not sure if it messed with any of the vets with PTSD, but for veterans of LSD (mushrooms if you only buy organic), peripheral pop-ups may cause flashbacks... not that I would know ;)

When the police bring me home my computer is booted up and I am on UCP.  :faint:
