Title: Can't stay logged in?
Post by: special-k on May 12, 2016, 01:31:18 PM: Has anyone noticed the need to re login if you haven't been active on the site for a while (less than an hour)?

It has been happening to me for a few days now.

Have any of you experienced this?

We need to know if this is a site bug...or just something wrong with my computer.

So it looks like it is a site/server problem. That kind of thing is beyond my expertise. We'll get APX on it when he gets back from vacation. Maybe it's something an SMF update will fix. I recall our server host (ASO) was having some problems about a week ago. Maybe this a continuation of that...something's causing the server to constantly reboot...therefore requiring all the re logins. I guess we will all have to bear with it until it gets resolved.

Post by: special-k on May 13, 2016, 10:13:45 AM: JM, you probably have not seen this issue because you tend to log out after visiting. Try leaving the tab open, then come back to it after 30-60 minutes of inactivity, then try to refresh.

Post by: JohnyMac on May 13, 2016, 03:10:04 PM: It appears that the inactivity shut off function returned to default mode after the ASO issue last week. Once APX or I find that function we will change it back to the previous setting.

I leave the tab up.
Walk away from the computer OR do something on another tab for ~20-30 minutes.
Come back to the UP tab to find I'm logged out.
I have performed no recent browser updates or setting changes.

The key here is not whether I have opened or closed tabs, or quit or started my browser. The key is a certain time period of forum inactivity. My desktop usually is always logged in to UP. The only time I log out is when I clear all cookies.

What you said in your last post suggest you have selected 1 hour so the cookie gets old and you get logged out.

Well, that seemed to work until today. If our tech-guy-most-supreme (APX) can't recreate the problem...he can't fix it.

Came back from and first thing here was added #3 to it. Check the times there, was still logged in. And IIRC was still in from a while back, maybe last night. Did not pay attention to it. So used to it being like that. Will make sure I notice from now on.

Maybe its fixed now.

I only had it happen to me once. With that written it is a issue.

Maybe it is ASO switching servers on us multiple times a day.

APX, I lost all of my passwords when I had to reset my Blkbry. If you ping me at Pinehillfarm me I will file a ticket with them.

Post by: APX808 on September 07, 2016, 08:55:56 AM: Technically they can't be switching servers, we are still hosted on franklin, also this is erratic because it happens to some of us but not others, and I think my work computer works fine and my home computer gets logged out.

Even if they switched servers the domain would be the same and the cookies work by domain, not by IP.

To create a ticket you need to use the password used for administrative tasks, not the technical console one, so I don't have it John, you'll need to password reset it or look in your mails for the password, I think they send it to you when you register. Anyway I dunno ASO guys will know what's going on.

There are no new forum versions to update to, so I don't know what else to try.

I have my browser remembering the password, when I'm logged out I just hit the login button and I'm in, is just a button click.
