Title: Bad Site
Post by: JohnyMac on March 16, 2017, 09:26:13 AM
When I sign in now a window pops up stating that this site is corrupt. Has anybody else been getting that?

Is it your browser warning of expired certs and potential viral infestation or ??   I occasionally get those so just avoid the site.  I also use Adblocker and Ghostery always and those generally kill those type pop ups.

Further investigation and input is needed by those smarter about these things than I.  (thats near everyone)

Yes I get them on occasion but only once for UP. I use adblocker but it doesn't help. I ran a security check with no problems showing up.

OH!  OK, I missed the "THIS SITE" part completely.

Other than what I said earlier, this question is way way above my pay grade.

Does the dialog box have a link in it?

If yes, AND the link takes you anywhere besides your browser's help page... you've got malware.

Otherwise it is likely just a security setting that was tweaked during your browser's latest update... or a recent re-installation.

My best guess of the cause is that UP is not an "https" site.

The "s" meaning "secured."  Which is typically used for sites that handle transactions (credit/debit/paypal/etc.)

Thx SK. Yes it does ask me to click to find out why. I do not because of Phishing. It does not do it when I use my phone.

When you place your pointer on a clickable link, does the link address appear somewhere in your browser window?

For example:  Put the pointer on your own name here on this page, but do not click it.  Do you see a link to your profile page appear somewhere in the window?  (In Firefox it appears at the bottom left.)

I finally figured it out and you are 100% correct. My browser does not like there being no "S" in the address, eg. http "S".

I forget why we don't have the miss "S". Do you remember?

Our site doesn't require the security that a site which handles transactions or personal info would need.  It would just be superfluous data/software in UP's case.
