Title: What grinds my gears...
Post by: Grudgie on May 24, 2018, 03:06:45 PM
...is when people shoot 5 round groups and choose the 4 holes that are closest together as a representation of that rifle's accuracy.

Or when people shoot several 3 shot groups and choose the best and discount the rest. You will commonly hear this referred to as "capable of sub moa accuracy".

It should be 10 round groups MINIMUM, what you get is what you get. Period. If it's anything else you are just lying to yourself.

So what grinds y'all's gears?

I've been around to long to let the small stuff bother me. When someone does something stupid I just smile and turn away. Some days I get dizzy. :lmfao:

What grinds my gears?

Almost every story reported by the media.

I would give my hind teeth for a source that only reports verified fact without spin or added agenda comments.

I go with 15 round groups.  3 groups of 5.  I go with the tightest group of 4, discounting the flyer in each.  They are measured and grouped with one trip downrange, being target frugal and using one 12 inch bullseye and having all 15 on paper beore that walk downrange.

with apologies to anyone from The Great State of Texas.
there is an old story about a Texas sharpshooter that was told so often it became a cliche.

He claimed he could hit the target every single time - dead center.
He would shoot at a barn wall and walk over to inspect his shot.
Then he would paint a target around the hole.

Another hunter watching you through a scoped rifle. Safety on or off doesn't matter.
