the evening carried on like any other 4th festivities would typically carry on. bunch of neighbors and I shooting Black Betty (my truck) with roman candles and bottle rockets, drunken laughter and rambling, etc...
cops came out to tell us to STFU at around 10:00pm (they weren't called, they were just cruising the neighborhood telling everyone to STFU because noise ordinance starts at 10pm)
*side note: nicest cops I've ever encountered. we were all pretty surprised at how friendly they were. they literally asked us if we were almost done instead of just telling us to stop. lol.*
all in all, a typical 4th.
so a little while after the cops left we heard one of those horrible *CRUNCH* type of crashes that can only be the sound of a car accident, and upon looking down the street, an entire wall of one of the houses was caved in, then another CRUNCH, and about two more after that. finally we realized what was happening. a pickup truck drove straight through a house, but it was no accident because the following crashes were the sounds of him REVERSING and hitting the house AGAIN! motherfucker was on some kind of rampage.
ok ok so anyway, after several minutes of gawking and investigating, we went back to our carrying on. here's the strange part of the story. no less that 30 minutes later the place was completely engulfed in flames. the reason I find it strange/suspicious is the amount of time that elapsed between the initial crash, and the time the fire started. wouldn't it make more sense that the fire would have started relatively quickly after the crash? another interesting thing to note is that this morning, they pulled the burned truck out of the rubble (the place burned to the ground), but the drivers body was found OUTSIDE the truck.
it wasn't the kind of crash that would have ejected him from the truck (plus he drove back and forth purposely through this house multiple times).
so is it possible that he got out of the truck and set the place on fire? (remember how long after the crash the fire started). and if so, why the hell would he stay in there only to be burned alive?
once the place was already on fire, there were multiple explosions. i mean, the kind of explosions where you can feel the concussion in your chest. gas lines I suppose.
either way, the entire thing was just strange. everyone in the whole neighborhood flocked down to my street to check out the scene. it was like something from a movie.
